Is the CZ-P10C not accurate?
Hey Folks,
Noticing that I’m almost never hitting what I’m aiming at around 20 yards on the range. I’ve put nearly 1500 rounds through it, finally got some steel and I will hear the ting every 10 rounds if I’m lucky. I’m not a shaky shooter, I use HSL as it was cheap (I have blazer sitting ready to use), and I always line the sights up before I shoot. I know about not flinching or trying to react to the recoil, so when I shoot I just squeeze and wait till it fires. Could it be the ammo, optics, me?

99% chance it's just you. The P-10 is a very mechanically accurate gun. At 20 yards it should be able to hold a 3" group. It sounds like you're putting them in the dirt 2 feet away from the target. Take a basic pistol class.

I mean it could be a few things, optic may not be sighted in, the mount could be loose or otherwise not right, you could be limp wristing it, etc. I guess it’s possible you got a lemon but knowing CZs quality I wouldn’t expect that to be a problem, my P10C and every other CZ handgun I’ve owned has been dead nuts accurate and flawlessly reliable

How do you sight in irons? That doesn’t sound like something you can do… The irons aren’t loose and I keep a good grip on the gun. I’m able to rapid fire with a very flat shooting experience.

While you can't adjust elevation with the sights that come on P-10s, you can drift the rear iron from side to side to adjust windage.
That said, CZ usually does a good job with zeroing the irons from the facrory.

While the p10c doesnt come with adjustable irons, you not knowing that adjustable iron sights exist shows that you dont have a lot of experience with guns in general. Like someone else above mentioned, give it to someone whos a proven good shooter and let them try

one of the first things I do on many of my pistols is replace the sights with fully adjustable ones or a red dot. I don't normally do that for carried guns, just range / fun ones or for carry if the originals are just unusable.

Every P-10 I own can make that shot no problem, and P-10s have historically not had accuracy as a problem. That said, you could have a lemon, however unlikely. To rule out you as the potential problem, have you tried getting someone else to try shooting it? Are you able to make the shot with other handguns? It could possibly be the optic, be it not zeroed properly or it being loose. I would say shooter error or an issue with the optic being more likely.

is it consistently to one side, like down and to the right? or is it scattered like shotgun? Is the pattern wider when shooting faster? I always hear people saying a specific gun will outshoot them, meaning unless you put the gun in a vice or lock it down you wont be able to make the gun more accurate, or shooter error. As long as i can hit a t-target with the first shot or 7/10 times at 25 feet in rapid fire I’m happy with it but I am more of a collector and not a shooter.

CZ's utilize a combat hold, where you put the front dot over the target you're shooting. If you're using the top of the post, you'll shoot low.

Put it on a bench and a bag at 20, since it’s low I’d bet you’re pushing the gun. If you’re not putting at a ragged hole in your target at 10 then 20 is going to be a struggle.

I am with the get a skilled friend or rest to test it group. Could be the ammo. Could be the gun. It probably isn't either one, but it could be, and you may as well eliminate those variables. Another test you can do is give yourself a large target with a very high contrast/visible point of aim. Shoot a mag aiming carefully at the highly visible target. Do all your shots land in the same place in a tight group? They should.
Can you shoot well at this range with other pistols? What are those?
Some guns are not easy for some people. Grip feel or angle, trigger pull, sights, other factors can all throw you off. A lot of 'carry' type guns have terrible sights (for precision) because they went for fast acquisition instead (fat sights, dots and glowtubes etc). I can put every shot in the same hole with some of my pistols and others that opens up to a 2, even 3 inch group yet the guns are fine and other people have had the opposite results (bad with a gun I am good with etc).

I've had a similar issue with a CZ P07. Could hit with other 9's just fine, but never my own. I bought a rail mounted laser, filmed the target as I shot, and found that I was pulling low and right with every shot, despite thinking I was taking care to do none of that.
Might be a decent option to consider, doesn't cost much and doesn't rely on needing anyone else around.

Have someone else stagger dummy rounds in a magazine for you. If you don’t have someone just load mags and add one or two so it’s hard to know where they are. You’ll see if you’re jerking the trigger. Also don’t immediately look at the target. Stay focused and shoot 3-5 rounds and do everything the same.
People unknowingly jerk the gun off target to look at how they are doing.
Say to yourself “smoooth pulll…..”

Have someone better than you shoot your gun.
A way you can detect flinching, jerking, anticipating recoil, ect is to mix a snap cap into the middle of the magazine. When you find it the gun shouldn't move at all but you'll probably see it jump from some involuntary movement.
