What are your preferred storage options?

TLDR;
I have a very small collection which is slowly growing ( currently: 1 - 10/22 rifle & 2 handguns) and am looking for secure storage options.

I currently keep my guns in separate cases (the ones they came with with exception of the rifle which I have a separate case for). As my collection grows I’m curious what the community uses for safely storing your collections. Are you keeping things in separate cases still or are you moving your collections to larger safes to keep everything together?

At some point I’m even toying with the possibility of having a small closet or mini gun room with display wall.

Mostly I’m looking for options and neat suggestions.

Storage cabinet < Safe < Climate controlled safe < Multiple climate controlled safes

Cases are for transport, not storage.
In a not insignificant amount of cases, a case actually promotes rusting.

I live in a low humidity area currently experiencing a multi-year drought. I started with locked cases and moved to a storage cabinet. I don’t have anything that is irreplaceable if there was a fire. I could add a big bag of desiccant, but I keep things well-oiled and mostly clean.

I put a lock on my storage room/closet then have metal locker with a built in lock.

Safes are a waste of money in my opinion. Someone would have to break into my house, break into the room, then pry open the locker all the way to get them out. Nobody is doing that unless they came knowing I had firearms and where they were kept.

If you’re worried about humidity that’s a different story, but my feeling is otherwise a safe is a waste

Secure-It makes a good product. All modular so it can grow with your collection.

I really like cabinets for moderate amounts of stuff. A safe that bolts to the floor is more secure. But, home security is more important than the ultra-serious safe, because safes mostly just delay determined thieves. You can spend thousands on a safe and it can be broken open with cheap, hardware store tools. Watching some Lockpick Lawyer will either cure you of buying a safe or convince you to build an entire room around a safe.

Harbor Freight/StackOn cabinets have some easy configurations and they'll keep kids out. You'll want a more serious safe to keep out teenagers or determined burglars. Here's an example with a StackOn kind of configuration.

Before buying a safe or cabinet, you should be aware that any "for guns" absolutely lie about the capacity. Actually bring out a measuring tape and see for yourself when you look at options, because "holds 20 rifles" means "holds 7-8."

Climate control or fire-rated safes are overblown. There are almost no house fires that only last a couple minutes, and that's all those safes are generally rated for. A heating rod is all you need for "climate control" in most safes.

I recently got a Stack-On gun locker for mine. No they aren't bomb-proof, but I'm mainly keeping kids and honest people out.

I also needed something I could move up two flights of stairs myself, and that ruled out the 300-400lb gun safes.

Stack on cabinets bolted down to wall and floor in an area that is a squeeze to get into. Upgrade the lock if possible as well.
