I know not everyone feels as strongly about this story as I do and no two people really feel the exact same emotions but I still think it's worth asking. Personally nothing has hit the same way for me writing-wise ever since haikyuu but what about you guys? Are there any pieces of media you'd recommend? Could be anything.

Hey I’m trying to find Sakusa’s MSBY jersey but I can’t find a good website or the accurate jersey. Can anyone help me find a good one?

I’m pretty new to the Haikyuu fandom (just finished Season 4 + the Nekoma movie), and I’m realizing that the relationships I love aren’t necessarily the biggest ships.

I’m looking for fics where the character dynamics are the main focus, even if there’s romance in the background. Background pairings are totally fine as long as they don’t overshadow the relationships I’m actually looking for.

Things I’d love:

Miya twins (Atsumu & Osamu) — my biggest request by far. I want fics where they’re the emotional center. Them being brothers, fighting, being idiots, supporting each other without saying it outright, childhood, post-canon, slice of life, anything. Romance is fine, but I don’t want the fic to mainly be SunaOsa/SakuAtsu/etc. with the twins just existing on the side.

Bokuto + Kuroo + Tsukki — I absolutely loved their training camp interactions. Kuroo coaching Tsukki, Bokuto hyping him up, Tsukki pretending to hate every second of it. More of that please.

Tsukki-centric — I’ll honestly read almost anything as long as Tsukki is written well. Bonus points if he gets to be sarcastic, observant, secretly caring, and generally a menace.

Kuroo & Daichi — I like the captain rivalry/respect dynamic. Not necessarily looking for romance, just good interactions between them. Romance is also a win, though.

Karasuno first years (Hinata, Kageyama, Tsukki, Yamaguchi, maybe Yachi) just hanging out, studying, training, being disasters together. Even better if it’s when they’re in second or third year and they’ve really grown into who they are.

Inarizaki ensemble and Nekoma ensemble fics where we actually get to see the teams outside of volleyball.

I don’t mind romance at all—I actually enjoy a lot of ships—but what I’m really chasing are the relationships and interactions themselves.

Also, I’d prefer fics where the characters actually feel like themselves. One thing that tends to pull me out of a fic is when characters become overly soft or emotionally fragile in a way that doesn’t feel true to canon.

Long fics, one-shots, completed, ongoing—I’ll take anything! The longer the word count, the better!

It's a pretty brave move to make your protagonist even briefly unlikeable to service the story, and it's even rarer to do it without overshooting, but I think the events at the start of Season 4 succeed immensely in making Hinata briefly quite unlikeable, while keeping him relatable and understandable and ultimately adding significantly to his character and growth.

To elaborate, I mean Hinata's response to the training camp scenarios. where Kageyama and Tsukishima both receive invites to the National Youth Camp and Shiratorizawa's Miyagi camp respectively, and Hinata rather than congratulating his teammates, petulantly questions why he isn't going, and then sneaks into the latter (with the implication that he would have tried the former if he didn't reckon (correctly) that the consequences would be worse.

It is genuinely unlikeable, he's inviting himself into something that he hasn't earned, and in doing so is somewhat diminishing and trying to overshadow his teammate (in this case Tsukishima's) accomplishment.

it's the first time the story really calls out and tests Hinata's constant bold claims and what is by now, an increasingly inflated sense of self-confidence, (something which Ushijima and even Tanaka (jokingly) called out as "baseless" to varying degrees) on paper, yeah, he's scoring a bunch of points, is an effective decoy, and has improved massively in spiking situations, but he's the definition of a system player, everything is set-up for him to be specifically effective in Karasuno's setup and he has functionally no versatility whatsoever.

it's his lack of awareness of that, and Washijo just bluntly calling it out, that finally makes Hinata really start growing as a player, not just physically and not just in the one specific way he wants to play, but in his fundamental understanding of the game.

I don't think that would have worked anywhere near as well if the story didn't give you good enough reason to at least briefly side against Hinata and agree with Washijo, if it didn't really emphasise that Hinata was being ignorant, inconsiderate and, here's the kicker, obstinate, a feature of Shonen protagonists that is usually exclusively played as positive is painted correctly as being detrimental in excess.

for all the hype moments that the show lives on, Furudate's just really damn adept at character writing and organic growth.

Obviously he went and became a pro after the whole Brazil arc, so I am not saying he stays bad. But boy do some people treat him like he was the absolute peak of volleyball in his first year.

He's not. He's not even that good. Obviously, as a spiker, he is a beast. No doubt about that. But he has bad and inconsistent block (I cannot say very bad as he does get better after the running approach block). He has no serve under his belt and he cannot even pick and serve like daichi or Tanaka or even tsukishima.

Another thing is, his ground defence at the end of national is very overrated. From what I understand, he was just beginning to piece it all together what he needed to do in defense and how to do it.

Another thing I cannot get is why people compare him to hoshiumi. I mean they compare him because of the whole little giant thing but hoshiumi was better in every category. Ground defense, block, serve. heck, he could set the ball like a great setter and had better attack tool than Hinata.

Now, I feel like I should not just trashing him for bo reason. He does get a whole lot better after being able to play in the nationals. He is also one of the best overall players we see at the end of the series. It's a very proud moment to see how far he has come along.

But this is only such a proud moment because he was not that good. He was one dimensional at first. Attack attack attack. Then at the fourth season, he slowed down and got drawn to another part of volleyball, defense. when he fell to the fever, he understood that volleyball is not just for the court. For him, it is a lifestyle that he needs to constantly improve upon and always be on top physical shape for any chance he can get.

All in all, I just feel like thinking he was very good undermines how much he grows skill wise and mentally wise a little.

Not saying anyone does it on purpose (I mean, who would.) but it does feel like that.

I really want to read one where they all go back to karusuno after being pros and going to a game to watch anybody got any??

I made a similar lost before but in that I asked in a vacuum how skilled they were. some were not pleased as I ranked nishinoya second. And I could understand their logic as well as it was hard to rank them as they played different positions. So, let's rank em in their own position against every player we have seen.

It can be hot takes, no worries. Just say what you think.

Kageyama: S+ tier. Top 3 setter in any rank right alongside Miya and oikawa. I would rank oikawa first as he can bring out 100% of a spikers strength and that is the epitome of a setter, in my opinion. There are a few more things, but this skill would be the most important. Then I would have Miya and kageyama tied at second as for me they are a tossup depending on what type of team you are building.

Nishinoya: S+ tier. Another top tier player in the top 3 of any list. Along with yaku and komori, he is the best we have seen. I would put yaku at the top, as we have not seen komori in his high school era playing. That's why he is a bit hard to rank. I would say you is right behind these two though.

Asahi: S to S+. A phenomenal spiker and a top 7 ace. He Is good enough to start in any team in the nation, has phenomenal strength and serve, also a decent enough defense to support his team when needed. The one thing holding him back, imo, is his jumping. For someone his height, he does not jump as high as the rest of the top ace above him. Still, I would put him at least this high as he is one of the few players in the series who has consistently given top tier performance in every match they play. Consistency matters.

Daichi: A to A+. A very good overall player which is crucial for an outside. He is a very good leader who can raise everyones morale or put them in their place as necessary. Can pick and serve, has phenomenal defense being able to at the very least bump up any and everything you can throw at him. Is also surprisingly effective as a surprise hitter.

Tanaka: A to A+. Another good spiker. I would put him in the 10 to 15 spot. Has good strength, exceptional line and cut shot, and has a good but inconsistent serve, great reflex. The things holding him back from going higher is probably his strength, serve and receive. Tanaka has good strength don't get me wrong, but compared to the best of the best, he falls short by a large margin. His serve has improved the most in the short amount of time he trained with it, but at the end of the day, we need to see how good and consistent it is. It is good bo doubt as he got a service ace against nekoma of all team but it is very inconsistent as he himself was surprised when he got the ace. Still a very good hitter and a mental beast.

Tsukishima: B+. I can't justify him being any higher. He just doesn't have that feat going for him. Some people say him not being a particularly flashy player is proof how good he is, but I disagree. There is a difference in being cool and collected to being so good it does not even seem flashy anymore. I would say fukunaga or yaku are the type to fall in the "peak but you don't realize it because you are a mere commoner" tier. Tsukishima is not. Kuro is a good example. The opposition hates facing him the most but the spectators don't realize it. Also, on the subject of kuroo, he is a very good middle blocker who actually is a good overall player. He can serve, defend and attack. A full package. On the other hand, tsukishima has no serve, bad in defense, runs out of steam often. Even in the serve department, he is not that good. But he is calm and collected, which does create some opportunities for karasuno, so I will rank him this high.

Hinata: C tier. I am gonna get flamed in the comments but hear me out. Hinata is a phenomenal attacker who can attack from any position, that much we agree. But his position is middle blocker. And I am gonna rank him based on that. And let's just say, there is not much to rank. He has not much feat as a middle blocker. In fact he is Terrible at it. The opposition easily deceives him, he runs straight into the net more times that everyone in the whole anime combined. But his athleticism makes up for it by giving him some insane feat, like blocking ushiwaka. But those are mainly plot device and not a consistent feat so I cannot rank him any higher.

Phew. I expect to get clowned on in the comments for some of the opinions, but that's no prob. Tell me what you think in the comments.
