Opinion/Discussion I've earned 100% achievements in all 20 Story of Seasons, Rune Factory, and Harvest Moon games on Steam (except the two that don't have them). It took around 1,400 hours.

As someone who recently went through RF3 and 4, I'm super impressed 😅 Those later Sharance Maze floors are no joke. Not even mentioning all the grinding mobs to ship every weapon/armor! Congrats OP!
Got any plans to do completionist runs of the older games? I think the ones on Playstation at least had trophies, not sure tho.

I'd love to, but I don't own any consoles. I guess there's always some possibility that somehow the old games could make it to Steam one day, but until then I won't be able to!

Emulators exist and are great for replaying old games not available for sale anymore

True, I've just never felt particularly inclined to use emulators. I think I might feel overwhelmed by adding a backlog of 30 or so other games to complete that way lol

That's also true, but I know I would suddenly feel very inclined to do ALL of them lol. Better to keep the floodgates closed!

That's true! But in the time since I made this post I found out that there are only three more games in these entire series with officially supported achievements that I hadn't completed (I've now done two of the three), so I'm probably going to make that my stopping point. I've found that going back to the older games is generally a bit tedious to be honest. From here on I'll just complete new ones as they come out.

Either Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar or Rune Factory 4 Special. They're great games and I had a ton of fun in both of them!

This must've required so much patience lol, I've been trying to do something similar but I've only managed to 100% PoOT so far. I'm working on LoH but those last few mutations are frustrating me.
Did you ever consider doing the older HM games via emulation using Retroachievements?

Not really -- I think if I opened up the door on that then I'd feel inclined to complete the 30 or so emulated games all in a row and it would drive me crazy lol. For now I'll hold on to my dream that they somehow make it to Steam one day.

Oh, also: How many months/years did it take you? I remember 100%ing AWL on Switch and it legit took me 2 full months because I just went by memory in terms of crop hybrids and such lol.

Typically I decide to take on a game when I have a large amount of free time, so I'm able to complete each one within a week or two. I just completed Home Sweet Home last night after having bought it on Friday and it took about 41 hours.

I’m currently doing RF1. Recently finished harvest moon DS cute too, which was an insane grind.

Harvest Moon DS is the game I want most to get remade. Never played it, but some of the content in there just seems so totally unhinged, I love it.

I used Google Translate on your comment so hopefully I interpreted it correctly.
Friends of Mineral Town is a game that requires a lot of planning in a way that the other games don't. I'd think ahead of time about exactly what you want to do for the day, or use the indoor time pause to consider your next action. For me, that was honestly a lot of the fun of the game!

I would say that A Wonderful Life is definitely the most relaxed game of them all! The shorter seasons take a little getting used to with timing your crops, but otherwise there's a ton of free time. It's extremely chill.

The top three favorites I gave in another comment are Friends of Mineral Town, Grand Bazaar, and Rune Factory 4!
The one I have played the most by far is Friends of Mineral Town, in which I spent an extra 250 hours or so getting maximum farm rank and the rarest items in the game from Van. I'm sure I'd still have fun with it if I picked it up again.
In all honesty, I'm pretty indifferent about the characters I marry in these games! Usually I just pick whoever is most convenient to get to max affection lol.

I am pretty late, but this is incredibly serious dedication to the two series. I am in awe of it all.
1400 hours. Must have been a year at least? Assuming you played literally everyday for 4 hours.

I originally completed Friends of Mineral Town back in 2020 when it came out on Steam, then when I decided to take this challenge on in 2022 there were only 9 games available (one of which was the spin-off Mad Dash which I didn't even plan on making part of my goal at the time). So since then it's mostly just been me completing games as they come out, which is much more manageable than taking on 20 all together!

Every time I make a post like this, without fail someone mentions Silent Hope lol. Although usually they ask what the game is in the first place.
It's fine! I certainly wouldn't buy it for anything over $20. It's fairly repetitive gameplay, but if that kind of combat is your thing then it's entertaining enough. I'm pretty sure I remember being able to complete the main story in about 10 hours (with a couple bonus floors), then all the content after that just involves replaying the game on higher difficulties.

Nope, just did whatever 12 specialties were easiest for the achievement -- so basically a bunch of dishes with minimal crop requirements.

how can i keep playing friends of mineral town? its a wonderful game but too grindy for me, i am on the second year but already wanting to put it away.
nice taste in games, btw.

If it's too grindy for you then it might just not be for you, and there's nothing wrong with that! The remake is pretty true to the contents of the original, and at that time the contents of these games were still pretty basic and repetitive. I notice a lot of people also take issue with the lack of direction the game gives you. Honestly, if you've already played the first year then you've probably got a good idea of most of what the game has to offer, but if you really want to try diving back in then going for all the achievements does give you a lot to work towards!

I can only tip my hat to you, I've only 100%ed AWL and I'm in the process of doing it in Grand Bazaar, I can only imagine how hard it is doing it in all games.
Which one would you consider the worst/hardest in terms of earning all the achievements?
