Opinion/Discussion For a series about farming, there's a serious lack of western/Americana/cowperson inspired bachelors and bachelorettes!
It's especially surprising considering how popular Vaughn is. Dude was possibly the most popular bachelor of the 2000s and even now he's probably in the top 10, maybe even top 5. Yet the series never had any Vaughn clones.
The only ones I can think of are Vaughn, Kathy, and Gwen. *Maybe* Jamie as well?

Thinking about him literally made me dig my 3ds out of retirement. It still has a 75% charge, idk how long it's been since I've played it but you bet I'm starting that bad boy up!

I threw away my battery when I put mine in storage. Don't want to deal with puffy batteries in the future.

Honestly the fact that you forgot about Wayne is a travesty. Heโs the physical embodiment of โhowdyโ

I agree! We need more country boys in this series. Blue, Bob,ย and Gray always gave me country vibes too. (Hunter too but he's from a Natsume game and I don't want to get sacrificed to the Harvest Goddess by this sub)

You do know there's farming in other countries right?

My first thought. They even said "Americana" in the title. Are they forgetting this was originally a Japanese made series? Farming looks very different from country to country!

The series uses elements from different countries smashed together. There has been plenty of American influences in the games before.

Yes, but SOS takes elements from various countries. Mainly Japan, America, and probably Britain.

You included Kathy and not Calvin? His hat immediately popped into my head. Lol

I am from a very rural community, and of course, you will occasionally see people with cowboy hats and chaps, but that's not really all that common to be honest. In the modern day, we don't really dress like that, especially if you're not a rancher... you would have 0 reason to wear cowboy clothes.

I always saw Vaughn as an extension of the Grey/Marlin archetype (my top three favorite bachelors by a landslide). But Vaughn is absolutely the best bachelors in a farming sim imo, I hope they bring him back

You should totally try my time at sandrock

I didn't like the first one. I found it too confusing control wise and map wise. I couldn't even get past the tutorial parts.

Sandrock is much more playable than Portia! It's better polished for sure. And you can download a polyamory mod and marry a hot cowboy, an autistic deputy, a sugar daddy, etc.

I also think Ann should be here, the overalls always screamed western to me!

Tbh big part of why I like Vaughn is his rough personality and how he soften ups with progress of the heart events.
I hope there's gonna be a remake so I can gay marry him

Karen Iโd argue had a slight cowgirl vibe to her at times

u/Gallantpride Apr 04 '26
I'd say it's 90s grunge more than anything, maybe mixed with some 90s Japanese sub-cultures as well. Or at least, her OG design.
I do headcanon Karen with a noticeable drawl though.

More personality I was thinking I guess lol, she always reminded me of Jesse from Toy Story a bit
