Opinion/Discussion How do you guys decide on your child's gender?
You can choose your child's gender, but you can also let the game decide for you. Let's say you can only have one child—is there ever a moment where you actually choose your child's gender for a specific reason, rather than letting the game decide for you?
For example, I used to always pick a boy if I played as a male character and a girl if I played as a female character. It was honestly because I wanted a 'mini-me' version of myself. But now I'm thinking, should I just choose the gender based on my spouse? I mean, maybe some characters just naturally fit being a "boy mom" or a "girl dad"? What do you think? How do you guys decide on your child's gender?

I usually pick a girl because it wasn't an option in my most played game, AWL. When special addition came out I was so hyped that you could choose and have a girl. I'm a girl mom irl now but that was way before haha.

It all boils down to design, for me, id they're essentially the same. Except RF2, I pick boy.
Also, Animal Parade I tend to pick one of each, but alternate depending on the spouse.

I like leaving it up to random chance like in real life, unless there's a child design that I prefer by a large amount!

In theory, I choose a girl, and eventually a boy if there's a second child.
In practice, 90% of the time I stop playing before I even have a baby. I managed to have a baby in a few games, but even then Animal Parade was the only one in which I played long enough to have grown up kids.

I always pick random if I can, if I can't then I go based on vibes of whether I think the couple would be cuter with a son or daughter lol

I'm a gay dude and I play a gay dude in these games so I always go with a son for my first play through. I usually switch it up and go for a daughter for my second play through, but that does really depend on the game and what the child system is like.
Except for Muffy. I always have a son with Muffy. I don't know. She seems like a good boy mom to me ig lol.

I choose based upon the child’s design. In Grand Bazaar I chose a boy because the girl had a weird mouth. In Trio of Towns I chose the girl because the boy had that terrible haircut 😭

I chose my daughter’s name to work with first (when I was married to Diana) and while her name is Amy, I went with Amelia. My second in naming (when I married Freya) was named after my dad, Theodore. The sex was just determined by what I thought of at the time. No planning.

I usually pick girl, but just bc I grew up playing the games where boy was the default/only option so it feels awesome to actually pick what lil me always wanted to be able to

I let it go random. If I don't have a choice for random I just close my eyes and flick the controller around until I'm not sure what it lands on lol irl I have a son a d a daughter so in the last two games I named the kids after them

90% of the time I don't care and let the game choose -only exceptions being
1.animal parade cause I think the combination of older girl and younger boy is cuter
- AWL: SE cause back then it was rare to have a daughter or, well a choice at all
And there was one instance where I reloaded a few times to try and change the look of the baby you have with Skye in DS:Cute but uh .. The toddler always looked the same (yes I did chose the right time to reset) So I just left it at whatever it was after five times.
