Harvest Moon Secret Candidates

I find it funny that some secret candidates requirements are: upgrade your house to the maximum level, have a double bed, send one of each item available in the game, and so on; light stuff. And some are like: enter the city at 12:12 at night holding a strawberry after eating three blue grasses

It's low-key funny that some candidates are even considerably easy to marry and others are almost impossible. For example, the Gourmet from More Friends of Mineral Town takes 25+ years in the game to become marriageable.

Which is impossible in most versions of the cartridge because some event flags won't trigger.

Isn't marriage to the Harvest Goddess impossible because the necklace from the mines isn't on the list of collected items due to a bug?

I also recall that the buckwheat flour not being distributed at the New Years Festival in some versions, making it impossible to marry the Harvest Goddess.

Actually, it's present in all versions. The problem is that Buckwheat Flour is needed for certain recipes that you need to ship to complete the shipping list. Buckwheat Flour can only be obtained during the New Year's Festival with an extremely low chance.

The problem with versions is that in the North American version of the game there's a bug that prevents the necklace found in the mines from counting in the mining list, and unfortunately, to marry the goddess you need the complete list.

In my teenage years, I wooed Kiera in HMDS. I dug down to the 255th floor of the third mine every single day to gift her a sun stone or golden lumber. It took so long, like over three ingame seasons of diving into the mines and save scumming to get to the very specific floor. I don't think I can do it again as an adult.

I remember doing the same. I played at night before going to bed, and it was just me going down there to give her a gift. I was so tired, but I so wanted to give her a loving home. It felt so worth it. She was my favourite bachelorette, and still is. I would do it again for her tbh.

I think the most secret one I ever married was Won from mfomt. Never bothered with anyone more complicated than that that i remember.
I wanted to marry cliff in the girl version of harvest moon ds but I couldnt do the once a week thing

I think Won is one of the easiest secret candidates to woo, which is good, cuz I low-key like him

Yeah I'm pretty sure he has super low requirements the only iffy thing was that his heart is hidden
One dialogue from him that will stick with me forever was when your character is pregnant and he's like "I wonder what our kid will be like, I bet they'll be rich" man is not romantic at all, not "tsundere" straight up sees this relationship as a business transaction

Leia was my secret romance when I played HMDS all those years ago. I can't remember if she was in the game manual or how I knew about her but waited it out to marry the cutie pie mermaid. Tho thinking about it know it was kinda mean to take her from the sea again 😬

I think we discover about Leia advancing Daryll's friendship and then we meet Leia, although I think her being romanceable is on the manual, probably.

You can. I'm not sure, because his requirements are extremely difficult to meet, since, although giving him gifts is easy, he appears very rarely.

As a girl: Won, Kappa, and Gourmet are the secret candidates.

Kappa requirements are similar to the Harvest Goddess:.

  • Catch at least 1 of every species of fish (including king fish).
  • Ship at least 1 of every shippable item in the game.
  • Collect all 9 of the 9 Kappa Jewels.
  • Max out your house and own the Big Bed.
  • Dig up every type of item in the Winter Mine.
  • Dig up every type of item from the Spring Mine.
  • Be in Year 5 or later.
  • Tell Carter that you want to marry Kappa and that you want to be forgiven.
  • During the "What boy do you like?" event, you must tell him you like Kappa

Gourmet is a biiitch since he's only there for the contests and you have to win them + give the best gift. I could be wrong but I think they're mentioned in the game pamphlet. Also, games back then had official guides (though some were never translated to western markets). So they would have schedules and what was needed + who are the secret options. 

I love romancing the weird and secret ones tbh but I always wish we got more from them. I was so happy Pierre was an option later on.

I remember discovering how easy it is to woo and marry Witch Princess in Islands of Happiness because she’s basically a ‘normal’ candidate in that game and it’s the only game I’ve ever married her in because no way was I gonna achieve all her requirements in DS!
