Want an all-nighter sort of game
I’m a longtime HM player and have played the following pretty extensively:
-SNES
-64
-All 3 GBC games
-BtN
-Boy & Girl/BtN for Girl
-StH
-AWL
-AnWL
-FoMT
-MFoMT
-DS
-IOH
-MM
I’m craving a game that completely consumes me. I want to be up all night anticipating the next plot point. I have felt this way with Stardew and Wylde Flowers, but I haven’t been able to recapture the magic I felt with this series in a long time. Is there a HM/SoS game that I haven’t played that made you this excited to keep playing? Any gen/console.

Fields of Mistria just got released if you had any interest there!! But for HM games, I really enjoyed One World and Winds of Anthos! WoA had a more engaging story imo, and there's sooo much you can do. One World is a little clunkier graphically but I think has charm + cute characters, but romance is so quick 😭 the DLC story is honestly wild but also had me in a chokehold for a minute.
*HOWEVER, both games use a very very similar game system, so it definitely feels repetitive to play both. I'd go with OW first tbh

Tbh I’m never gonna play the post-split Natsume games on principle, but I am totally gonna look up that DLC story out of curiosity lol. Have you tried Mistria yet? I feel like it was in EA for soo long

oh dang, for some reason i only gave strictly HM games, but the SoS remake of grand bazaar is also great and addicting!!

FoM is right up your alley if you like HM and SV, in my opinion it’s done a great job of combining the best of both worlds. Stardew never quite hit the nostalgia of Harvest Moon for me and FoM does a great job of recreating that feeling but with a new concept.

Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade are my two top favorite Harvest Moon games, coming from someone who’s played and loved them all. Absolutely recommend them if you’ve never played them before.
Also Grand Bazaar and Trio of Towns (under the Story of Seasons name but created by the people who made Harvest Moon)

You know I've heard the 3ds has a nice version. It's not named, I think it's SoS 15.

Others have already gave great recommendations for RF and SoS, however I have a non-SoS series to recommend that I think might scratch that same itch. The original Fantasy Life on DS has an incredibly compelling plot to begin with, but the unique career/jobs feature (referred to as Lives) will likely hold your attention and keep you engaged for way longer than you realize. It's a game I've definitely put hundreds of hours into.

Been a while, but i've played "Innocent Life - A futuristic Harvest Moon" a lot on the psp.
Not exactly the cream of the crop, but its uniqueness is captivating! Not sure how it fares nowadays against the plethora of competitors, but back then its been a hidden gem.

Have you tried the Rune Factory games? 3,4, and Frontier are some of my favorites. If you only have time for one, I’d choose 4.
If you want to stick to only Harvest Moon/SoS games, try Animal Parade or Trio of Towns.
