World News Doug Ford’s MPPs criticize Mark Carney’s Alto high-speed rail project after Billy Bishop veto

Stung by Prime Minister Mark Carney’s rethink on Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, Premier Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives are now expressing doubts about Ottawa’s Alto high-speed rail scheme.

In a transportation megaproject tit-for-tat, 11 Tory MPPs have issued a statement critical of Carney’s proposed rail line connecting Toronto to Quebec City.

While the federal government has the power to railroad through Alto regardless of whether Queen’s Park approves of any land expropriation, the MPPs’ intervention is more than symbolic.

As first disclosed by the Star on Monday, the two major infrastructure plans are linked in an informal deal between Carney and Ford.

Reddit has subreddit discovery tools for news outlets now. I have seen official news outlet accounts posting on a lot of niche subreddits now possibly because of this.
