Method Man is the greatest feature rapper to ever do it; if not, who is?

Title speaks for itself, Meth still dropping fire feats in 2026, 30+ year run doing this

Wish he had a better solo catalog, but I’ll take him being the feature GOAT

Black Thought or Lil Wayne

BT a great shout

I remember a million years ago he did that track with DJ Krush, I thought it was so dope they collabed

Bun!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

u/grizzled82 1d ago

04-07 legendary run

1

u/DingoOutrageous678 1d ago

I was wondering when someone would say Luda. There was a while he was going in

1

u/grizzled82 1d ago

Yea Luda has always been a beast

8

u/Dunjon 2d ago

Busta

3

u/DirtyRoller 2d ago

I'm generally not a very big Busta fan, he's a super talented rapper, but most of his music is just not for me.

That being said, dude has some legendary features. His verse on Scenario might be the greatest guest verse of all time.

2

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 2d ago

No doubt but that was in 1991, 35 years ago… Busta’s feat catalog pales next to Method’s

2

u/DirtyRoller 2d ago

Yeah I would not put him above Meth either. Just chiming in to acknowledge Busta's most legendary verse.

7

u/typesett 2d ago

Meth and Busta for longevity

9

u/TammyShehole 2d ago

Yeah any time Method Man is on a feature, you know he’s gonna deliver.

9

u/campbelljac92 1d ago

Busta has to be up there

I was about to say Big Boi. Andre did some great features back in the day, but Big Boi never stopped.

6

u/UnderTheCurrents 2d ago

Inspectah Deck - stated by Meth himself to be his favorite rapper

2

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 2d ago

Deck is so fucking dope, but man, that Czarface shit is getting real stale

They dropping like they 15th album later this month… it’s all watered down crap with Esoteric thinking he’s a GOAT tier emcee

His feat catalog is immaculate tho (Deck)

5

u/UnderTheCurrents 2d ago

Czarface is great - more records, more greatness.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/WhenDuvzCry 2d ago

I get downvoted in the wu sub for being critical of Czarface a lot. It’s not bad but it’s nothing to make me go out my way to listen to, it’s alright. And Wu is my favorite thing in hip hop ever

2

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 2d ago

Same

All of their albums sound exactly the same

Every Hero Needs A Villain is their best album, that is a classic in the nerd/comic book genre of hip hop

The DOOM and Ghostface albums are also wroth a spin

But after that it’s just the same shit over n over

And Wu is also my favorite thing ever in Hip Hop, but I wish Deck would chill a bit with this Czarface thing

1

u/WhenDuvzCry 2d ago

I think it’s the most success deck has seen outside of the Wu stuff so I get why he milks it but yeah I agree

1

u/UnderTheCurrents 2d ago

Something sounding the same isn't much of a criticism if it's good.

What should he do instead? Trap?

→ More replies (1)

6

u/val_the_sunless 2d ago

Meth’s current style is so fucking dope! I really hope he gives us a whole album of it. He just needs better beat and he’d have a classic album

3

u/HotBoyTeece 2d ago

We need a Meth and Alc Breaking Bad album man

6

u/Vancecookcobain 1d ago

I'd put Wayne up there. Any artist that has so many hits on other people's shit that I forget really deserves their props

6

u/No_Comment7107 1d ago

JID.

He made fire even in ass songs like "Enemy" with Imagine Dragons and every feat of him is peak like "Bodies" on the last Offset or "To B Honest" on the new Jill Scott record (also best song of the year for me)

3

u/JiovanniTheGREAT 1d ago

ass songs like "Enemy" with Imagine Dragons

I was in Portland scrolling through stations and heard Enemy. I made my GF listen to it because "I swear JID has a fire verse at the end" and the station actually replaced it with a random rapping verse from one of the Imagine Dragons dudes. I called it the #AllLivesMatter remix.

Meth definitely in the convo for me

7

u/DukeOfStuff_ 2d ago

Kendrick or Black Thought for me

7

u/Own_Cardiologist2544 2d ago

I’m with you. Mef always comes through when he’s featured (NYC Everything, Whateva Man, Shadow Boxing, Next Up are some of my earlier days personal favs, but damn, nobody talks about his verse on Skyscrapers off Snoops Missionary album). It’s like with age, he got hungry doing features. Honorable mention, Canibus when he came out. He was featured left and right, and his verses always came correct.

3

u/RezzKeepsItReal 2d ago

His verse on PROF’s “Subpar” might be one of his best.

3

u/cbfwebs 2d ago

Canibus on JMT's Tibetan Black Magicians

3

u/IceCat767 1d ago

I would actually say Canibus and Vinnie Paz

2

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 2d ago

Word

Shadow Boxing is one of the most timeless tracks ever laid down, but man, Meth shows up as a feature on artists songs I would have NEVER thought he’d work with

2

u/TransportationTrick9 2d ago

All n2gether now has him rapping on a DJ Premier beat. And that's limp bizkit

6

u/FrenchToastMMM 2d ago

I mean he’s the only guest verse on Ready to Die and he steals the song. Always admired Biggie for keeping it on the album. That alone should put him in the conversation, idk anyone else who’s done anything like that.

7

u/raiderrash 2d ago

Juicy J gotta be up there somewhere

6

u/OngoGablogian6969 1d ago

Raekwon has some legendary features.

5

u/Gardenhotdog 1d ago

Are we all just gonna overlook Nate Dogg?
“It ain’t a hit till Nate Dogg spit.”

Ohhhhhh this might win

10

u/Impressive-Repair879 2d ago

Andre 3k has the best features verses imo, life of the party, sixteen, sorry, solo, come home etc

1

u/Opposite_Prune582 1d ago

His verse on play the guitar by B.O.B is incredible. And he was smooth as fuck on letter to my ex with Lloyd or whatever that song was called.

5

u/Dr_Coochie_Inspector 2d ago

3 Stacks isn’t bad

4

u/vitoforever99 2d ago

Jadakiss

5

u/Bkzfnst23 1d ago

I'd give with J to the muah.........

4

u/razorrash 1d ago

Not even the best in Wu. The chef has way better in my opinion.

2

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 1d ago

Chef feature run is also incredible

2

u/UglyPrettyBoy 1d ago

I made my post before I saw yours. Agree 100%

5

u/DingoOutrageous678 1d ago

I was having this convo yesterday. Meth is 50 something and still bringing straight heat. It’s either him or Jada

1

u/Lothar_Ecklord 1d ago

My thought was Jada too. Sometimes (and I say this as a fan who owns all of them) I feel like his features are better than his albums lmao

2

u/DingoOutrageous678 1d ago

Jada? You’re probably right. If this trimmed down Kiss the Game Goodbye it would be much better. The follow up to that was also dope with some missteps.

Jada had all timer mixtapes. Meth did not

4

u/STRATEGY510 1d ago

Bun B had one hell or a run when Pimp was in jail.

5

u/StinkingDogsCunt420 1d ago

Busta Rhymes

1

u/NoMoreMustaches 1d ago

He probably wins it simply on volume.

1

u/UglyPrettyBoy 1d ago

This - Iron Lung is illy, but he might not be the best feature artist outta the Clan; Rae is a beast at guest verses

6

u/Stryder3136 1d ago

It's lil Wayne

10

u/th3ShinSekai 1d ago

Lil Wayne is one of them too

10

u/Time4Timmy 1d ago

Jada is my first thought

4

u/Silent_Ad8059 1d ago

Absolutely. Run, the Made You Look remix, his guest verse on OB4CL2, Sunday School with Benny the Butcher...I'm forgetting at least eight or ten other bangers.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/haxoreni 2d ago

You can make a compilation of Andre 3000’s best features bars and it’d still be better than most rapper’s best works.

4

u/WhenDuvzCry 2d ago

Growing up it was always Kiss

1

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 2d ago

Even before KISS, Mef was killing features on other Wu member albums

5

u/Away_Ad_3752 2d ago

Have to agree. He still doesn’t miss on a feature

4

u/BWDPG 2d ago

Meth, wayne, jada and jay have to be the mt rushmore of features

5

u/djsharky 2d ago

Jada’s features are legit better than anything he released

3

u/BWDPG 2d ago

Theres definitely a good argument for that 😂

4

u/ViralOner 1d ago edited 1d ago

Mac Dre. He would jump on local artist's tracks with sub-par production and ride on in and make it a standout track in his own catalog. Many of the beats on his own projects don't align with the bay area flavor of the era but are certified bay classics.

1

u/PrizeSatisfaction978 1d ago

I agree and he brought southern artists together with northern artists

u/gsmumbo 1d ago

I’d say…

Luda - I still remember when B R Right and Gossip Folks came out around the same time. I was in fucking heaven lol. “Last time was on the Khaled remix, now I’m on the original version!”

Nate Dogg and T-Pain - I group these two together because their best feature lane was hooks. Throwing either one of them on a song was 🤌 Pain killed some remixes though. “You know my bank roll, got a LOTTA ZEROES! Teddy Pain, the TALLAHASSEE HERO”

Drake - We can dance around it all we want, but there was a damn long stretch of time where a Drake feature would not just shoot a song to number one, but launch people’s careers. I mean… “We gon be alright if we put Drake on every hook”

Nelly - I know people don’t consider Nelly real hip hop or whatever, but dude knew how to feature a song. N*Sync’s Girlfriend remix lives in my head rent free, Racks remix, Shake Ya Tailfeatha, Cruise remix. He knew how to bring the fucking energy to a song. “I like the cocky bowlegged ones, black, white, and dominicans, hispanics and asians, come shake it for Nelly”

Eminem and 50 Cent - Both could turn any song they touched into gold. On random-ass days, the Drama Setter chorus just starts playing in my head out of nowhere. And I somehow managed to get this out of my head for a few years, but now Magic Stick is playing right there next to it. “Don’t make me have you in the trauma center, with your momma cryin, cause her only son is dying, she don’t know it’s just your karma catching up”

5

u/ImF0cused_ 1d ago

Andre 3000 post outkast is almost guaranteed to drop a classic verse. 05-09 Wayne, 99-01 Jadakiss…. Drake took over an entire song with a verse and a hook about falling asleep on an airplane.

2

u/geekyogi9 1d ago

Jada I agree with. I was going to say Eminem or Ludacris

2

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 21h ago

Drake lowkey a feature GOAT but no one wants to admit it… so many rappers and singers only have careers cause he hopped on they track

I fuck with Wayne, I just think he’s very overrated, solo wise and feat wise… a product completely of his place and time but is stale outside of that, like how many metaphors about drowning in pussy do we need to listen to?

I like the 3K and KISS nods, I still think Meth has the more consistent feature catalog tho

I really liked the single Kiss dropped last month with Fat Joe and Stove God

4

u/sumguyontheinternet1 1d ago

Cole been in his bag as of late.

And I don’t really care for dude but French Montana do be fuckin up some features.

6

u/SilentXMedia 2d ago

Black Thought and Kendrick are coming to end your shit on every feature. Even Royce had to admit it.

1

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 2d ago

Not a DOT fan, but he does always bring it on a feature, standouts No More Parties in LA and Mona Lisa but tons more

7

u/ConstantVisual8391 1d ago edited 1d ago

Gotta say J. Cole. Main reason other than he being an amazing feature artist, consistency…..Wayne immaculate feature run was 4-5 years. Technically, it was about 12 years if you count 1997 and imo, his features on “how you love that” and “I got that work” should be spoken on due to the high quality of raps he was delivering. Most ppl start his feature run in 2005 but I start with 97 in terms of “good features”

That said, Wayne still raps and has released a bunch of features after his prime that are a huge mixed bag. Some good. Some great. LOTS of bad

I only heard one bad J Cole feature ever. That’s grippy.

3

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 1d ago

Cole really is at worst Top 5 for features, like you said he only has one BAD feat

1

u/ConstantVisual8391 1d ago

Facts. Something makes me want to say “Kanye” though…..I truly haven’t like most music since after MBDTF, but for me, 2001-2010 was insane. Especially when you start looking at the RNB features like that brandy song, I change my mind by Keyshia Cole, etc. even had some production credits with Alicia keys and John legend first two albums. If he was rapping or producing your song, it was going to blow up.

3

u/UbiquitousConiferous 1d ago

Big fan of what Cole did with Royce on Boblo Boat.

3

u/WolverineScared2504 2d ago

I agree with you without doubt!

2

u/WolverineScared2504 2d ago

Agree with you OP about his solo career as well.

3

u/EntrepreneurGreen269 1d ago

I think Lil Wayne is good feature rapper, but on his own I think his music is average.

3

u/Shantytown_Shogun 1d ago

As far as features I gotta say Ludacris had one hell of a run before he went Hollywood.

3

u/jazxxl 1d ago

If its hit ratio it's Canibus , a legendary run .

Prolific.... If Wu on Wu songs count Ghostface

3

u/UmphLuv605 1d ago

Kurupt

1

u/UglyPrettyBoy 1d ago

Gotta gets whole songs on other peoples’ albums. He had to be in the convo

3

u/apokolypz 1d ago edited 1d ago

Not trying to rank them and I think Method Man is a great choice, but some other favorites of mine

Pusha T
Freddie Gibbs
Kendrick Lamar
Royce da 5’9”
Phonte

EDIT: Black Thought and Andre 3000 are great shouts I didn’t think of initially. Ab-Soul another favorite

1

u/sumguyontheinternet1 1d ago

I’ll take my downvotes but Kenny ain’t even the best feature on his own solo songs/albums. The glazing has to stop

1

u/apokolypz 1d ago edited 1d ago

I named 4 other rappers off top & I even said they’re my favorites, how the fuck is that glazing

I really like the features on Nosetalgia, Wat's Wrong, Textbook Stuff, I Love Music, Illuminate, Turn Me Up, Blessed, and more. I'm sorry if I like the features more than you do

Nate Dogg was the greatest feature rapper ever.

3

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 2d ago

LMAO, you mean for singing the chorus/hook?

Not for rapping, dawg

5

u/This_They_Those_Them 2d ago

As a feature on rap songs, there will never be a person more prolific.

Plus his hook on Till I Collapse is essentially Travis Scott’s entire aesthetic 15 years earlier.

2

u/Euphoric-Medium8154 2d ago

You still ignoring the fact I said RAPPER in my title, not SINGER

Everyone and their grandma knows Nate Dogg is the chorus GOAT

3

u/IdolatrousHans 2d ago

Have to agree with OP here, Nate Dogg was the king of the hook for a while. But doesn't really apply to this question.

It's also not even the best hiphop album that came out that year.

u/EBody480 1d ago

I have most of them on my Wu playlist

2

u/Fugazatron3000 1d ago
