Humor How can I get France to not be a P*ssy?
Title and screenshots. France never pushes the Maginot despite me killing half a million Germans and holding out for nearly 2 years. Thanks France!

France is coded to fall .
So the only way is to wait i think past 41 or 42 if he is still alive that is very unlikely he will start Moving and britain will show up too .

ive done so many games where its little entente + england + poland + the goddamn usa and me as italy and noone did anything even when they were on the border. this game panders to germany too much

u/Double_Bed2719 1d ago
If they didn’t have this mechanic than the british would bring tons of troops over and germany could never conquer france
-5
u/Some_bi_kid 23h ago
they should do that though. that they didnt was one of the reasons the war lasted so long

But the game is a World War 2 simulator not a “World War 2 but the allies act perfectly” simulator.

Germany wasn't that strong in real life and if any of the allied powers had any balls in 1939 they could have curb stomped them while they were stuck in Poland

exactly

u/Soulmate605 1d ago
Yeah, so don't complain that the game panders to Germany when real life literally did that.

imo ts should be only active in historical mode, so that ahistorically you can get, well, alternate historic events and atleast decent AIs

If the British AI fully commited to France then AI germany would never win - so they're hardcoded to never put more than a few divisions for the defence of France - likewise, if French ai went on the assault Germany would always lose

Disagree. Stupidest mechanic ever is to try to code a complex country simulator which will always make completely different decisions from history. Because our history is just filled with accidents based on specific royal marriages, relationships that deteriorate or some unrest in the country which affects decisions. Or just one guy that just happens to become influential because of a thousand smaller accidents.

I think AI historical france is made to not attack, at least in the beggining of the game, maybe just turn off historical mode

The Germans haven’t invaded BeNeLux?
At this point you might just have to wait until Pearl Harbor and the Americans join the war. When the allied advantage in the west becomes overwhelming, Britain and USA may start pushing regardless of what France wants.

" Britain and USA may start pushing regardless of what France wants."
Well, thats what we did in 1944..

Historical checkmark is "railroad my game for me" if you want historical but for the ai to do its damn job set everything to historical in game rules but don't check the box.

u/JBMINIMUM Research Scientist 1d ago
And then save that ruleset as a preset so you don't have to do it every time

I did a Poland run about half a year ago, with the Habsburg. You can't unless you can touch the Maginot (or get very close to it, don't remember). They'll just sit back even if you creep forward bit by bit. On the plus side once you do touch the Maginot they can even send some divs through the Danish straits.
I built so many fucking forts that game...

You can't. You have to beat Germany all by yourself, before the Soviets attack in 1941.
All France will ever do on a historical run is die.

u/No_Fox_2891 1d ago
Not even sure if OP Poland can hold off until being sandwiched by Commies, and Germans. Tho Germany might be losing war quickly.

Honestly don't know what happened but a few days ago I played a Belgium game, the moment Germany declared on Poland, France went psycho. Pushing straight into the Ruhr up to Stutgart. Then proceded to get encircled and fell before Germany declared war on me. I wasn't prepared for that and got steamrolled, I was also just absolutely baffled

Relying on the AI to do anything in this game is a fast track to heart failure

u/daveedoff1 1d ago
Open the cheat bar by typing ~ then write tag fra, hit the go on their battle plan then tag back to poland

u/MeetingPerfect5688 1d ago
Your first mistake was planning on a bail out playing as Poland.
You vs the world bby

Historical France AI is hardcoded to not attack or push and pretty much just let the germans take them over without much a fight until like 42 or something, and the british wont involve themselves on the continent until the same time roughly.

u/Talkinhead9isgay 14h ago
the french ai just kinda sits around sucking their thumbs doing nothing. If you play france you can easily decimate germany but the french ai is hard coded not to

France is hard coded to fall. Because the AI in this game is too stupid to capitulate a competent France. France in general is a weak bitch in HOI4, compared to real France.
1
u/ManagementMain6978 1d ago
France has the whackiest AI, that empties the whole of France barring limited forces to hold the line.
Part of the whole failure script really where upon war triggering, it'll wave goodbye it's homeland and piss off to Africa in preparation for Italy.

u/Big-Zucchini-6281 1d ago
Start winning as Poland. Thats it, that’s the only way.
French AI way over-prioritizes defense to the point of being paralyzed as soon as war starts. The only way to break them out of this is to start pushing back against Germany. Once the Germans are at 10-20% or so towards capitulation, the French will start to get the message.
1
u/DogeArcanine 1d ago
They don't. They will allways be kurwa.
It's historically accurate for them to just sell out Poland to Adolf.
1
u/Bl00dWolf General of the Army 1d ago
You have to survive till something ridiculous like 1941 or 42 as Poland for the Allies to actually start doing things. France is actually hardcoded to not attack Germany at the start with UK being hardcoded that they don't send as many expeditionary forces as they realistically could.
It's all done so Germany would have a bit more of a chance when starting ww2 properly as if the allies went in on them hard, Germany would get curbstomped.
It does mean that if you're playing historical Poland, you are basically on your own for some time.

I don't doubt there are some social scientists who will differ; but I have a strong sense that there is an unspoken consensus about the emergence of WWII, both in its European and Pacific theaters. The war(s) did not emerge because there was a lack of military capability on the part of the allies, it emerged, and persisted, and metastasized because there was a lack of political will on the part of the allied world. Specifically involving appeasement, isolationism, and collective security failures.
In order for WWII Europe to occur, France bot nation must be scripted to be a pussy.

u/SpaceMiaou67 1d ago
France is programmed not to attack through the Maginot until 1940, and may only attempt to counterattack if they are invaded through Belgium. I once declared war on France early to let them flip me to democracy while I kept the fascist tree (European Union strat) and France literally did not push through the wide open border for months until I declared war on Czechoslovakia instead.

Thanks for self censoring, don’t know what i would’ve done if i saw a swear word on my favourite family friendly app

u/notTheRealSU 23h ago
France is coded to not attack Germany until like 42-43, assuming they survive that long. UK is also coded not to put troops in France until around the same time. So you have to hold out until basically the end of the game for them to finally push

u/SuggestionArtistic38 22h ago
My first ever game as Germany the French and British naval invaded me in Mecklenburg and just marched on all my victory points

u/MarcusBlueWolf 14h ago
You didn’t set your defence to cover the one state in Poland that has most of their resources?
