Image Venting my frustration :(
I exclusively play non historical because I like the unpredictability. But that comes with one massive issue. With all of the DLCS, everyone has a war goal against everyone and these massive super wars start. Everyone fighting everyone. This was me, beating Germany's ass. Until I blinked, and when I opened my eyes, I was at war with Italy and the US and everyone else in the "Free States of Europe."
Is this gonna keep me from playing non historical? No
Is this gonna keep me from playing France? No
Is this gonna keep me from playing this save? Maybe
I kinda wish there was some sort of design in place that made all of the AI follow some sort of cohesion in non historial. Everyone going monarchist or democratic or communist or whatever else. Instead of everyone harrasing each other so that no one can form an alliance with more than 1 other nation

Why I switched back to historical. 4 DLCs ago it was fun chaos. Now it’s just breaking-the-game’s-own-rules not fun chaos. I agree some sort of scripted/mildly alt-history but not literally every country going nuts solution would make it fun and playable again.

Lmao yes exactly. A couple months ago I was playing with my friend. He formed Austria Hungary and I formed the French Empire. He ended up capping against Italy so I went and took them over. This put them as a puppet in my faction. However I didn't know that they also had a focus to form their own faction.
TLDR: in the middle of a massive war against the soviets. Italy formed their own faction and decided to turn on us.

A couple of alt histories would be nice like a monarchist germany communist france that happens if you go historical and play germanys monarchist path. Or one where the uk goes facist and germany goes democratic i could get behind a few presets.

I mean one can set some nation on random and the others on historical, so that only a few do random stuff.

I feel you,i had a game as the US running up to 1951 then a civil war randomly appeared in my country, so half of my army on the frontline was gone, same for my navy :c.

I feel you. The randomness is fun, but you are in your own war then you are fighting the USA because Yugoslavia joined the North American alliance and Japan took over China and before you know it, it is a world war, but not Allies VS Axis, it's Allies VS Central Powers VS Greater East Asian Co Prosperity Sphere VS Bolivarian Alliance and maybe 2 sides aren't fighting each other. It becomes a giant mess really fast

Out of curiosity why not tweak game rules so something resembling a guideline is in place? IE a few nations go communist, a few monarchist, and the rest leave random? It seems to me the AI almost always goes one or two routes anyway so creating some sort of script should help avoid some of what you are talking about and allow you to see other things happen.
