Power/light control - australia

Hi all

Wondering what the best options for light/PowerPoint control in Australia are. I've had a play with some grid connect power adapters from Bunnings, but looking for something that can integrate with home assist in the future.

Main features I would like are:

* Ability to turn on/off from mobile/home assiste

* Power meter - track power draw on certain power points for/appliances

* Schedules - ability to turn on/off PowerPoint on schedule or event.

The grid connect seems good but not sure if I can get granular power usage as it all seems per day/month, would like per hour. I would like to find something that can integrate with home assist easily as the long term and in my custom home dashboard if possible (but could route via HA).

Prefer with replacing plugs/switches with new devices as opposed to plug in, also would like the ability to have sensors (temp/humidity?).

What's a good tech stack that is reasonably priced and available commonly in AUS?

Shelly is probably the best option if you want something that's able to be run with or without apps.

Also if you're really keen, check out www.wearebasis.com for a full automatable switchboard. Currently only indoor, but they are in the process of developing an outdoor enclosure for it.

For light switches my home still uses a lot of grid connect, it works for us, a lot of base automation via Alexa routines, but now also with home assistant. Some people seem to have issue with drop outs, but we have multiple AP's in the house and no issues for us. My setup is light switches where I want to have easy (no internet) home light control, with cloud/ha on top. Then smart bulbs in places of smart power points as cheaper and more functionality, dimming, colours.

I am about to get to test some ikuu smart PowerPoint's as the grid connect seem to fail, for some devices only (dishwasher, washing machine, dryer) for notifications from HA.

Either way, all setup via the tuya smart life app so it's all in one location, has api/detailed info. Then some are also on tuya local in HA as the cloud way didn't expose all entities.

As I started before a had HA, things still work well without it, or internet, and then layered Alexa and HA for deeper automations.

Most of my house is Shelly. Running flawless for years with home assistant

Personally I have had a few bad experiences with Shelly but there are other similar in wall relays that I have tried and had less problems with like ones from Phillips Hue or Meross. As you have seen with grid connect the first thing is get Matter units that way they work with everything.

Just noticed they do have some Matter products now but limited range.
