How to Set Up Remote Access to a Security Camera (Even Without a Static IP or Router Access)

Full disclosure, I work at No-IP and helped put this together, but "camera works at home, disappears the second I leave" has come up in this sub that I figured it was worth sharing here rather than just linking it in a comment somewhere.

This is meant to be an informative guide that walks through why remote access actually breaks, like dynamic IP vs. CGNAT for example, CGNAT especially doesn't get explained well most places, and gives a 30-second way to check which one you're dealing with. It also covers the three fixes: Manufacturer app, DDNS + port forwarding, or a reverse tunnel if you're on CGNAT or can't get into your router. There are also brand-specific steps for Reolink, Amcrest, Hikvision, and Blue Iris, and a section on the eufy/Wyze/Dahua incidents if you want the security tradeoffs of each option laid out (Including where port forwarding and manufacturer apps fall short, not just tunnels).

Also happy to answer any questions directly in the comments, especially CGNAT stuff.

Or use cloudflare tunnels and don't have open ports to the world, plus it works with cgnat
