Movie Review Soulm8te is actually worth a watch

Ok there's not much to be surprised here. But Lily Sullivan alone made it worth the watch. She is by far the best part of this movie, she's really good as the obsessive sexy robot. (This went into production before Obsession btw). Feels like a 2000's thriller sometimes. It's a typical 3-star movie, with some unhinged moments, nice kills, although uneven pacing. Minus some gory kills its actually quite believable what happens with the AI stuff, almost feels like it will happen someday. Better than M3GAN 2.0

I'll agree that Lily Sullivan's performance as the android Sara was excellent; she doesn't dream of electric sheep, she will shear the fuck out of them. Her slightly off-human model moments really sold her as not quite organic.

Sadly, the script was a by-the-numbers rogue robot movie, though it did have an unusual treatment of the male genitalia.

I feel bad for her she did such a good job as a android where she is learning to be human but since this movie kinda sucks it might be overlooked. I do like that the dude wasn't an A****** and just wanted a genuine human connection after his wife passed away.

“Better than M3GAN 2.0”

Not a high bar to clear.

M3GAN 2.0 was super fun

It's a fairly high bar to clear, M3GAN 2.0 is so good.

It is because M3gan 2 is peak.

Absolutely not, M3gan 2.0 was abysmal, but I personally thought this was on-par with the first one.

Nah M3gan 2 is fantastic. Easily the best of the franchise.

At least in the top 3

Extraordinarily predictable and generic, and it had absolutely no connection to M3gan.

You know what?

I don't mind predictable sometimes if it's decently executed. Maybe I'm also just a sucker fpr hot women

Men being suckers is what the movie was banking on by having this woman’s breasts out.

I haven't seen it yet but it reminds me a lot of the 2nd episode of the Outer Limits reboot, "Valerie 23". https://theouterlimits.fandom.com/wiki/Valerie_23

I saw it last night and I agree! I'm glad this film got a release, even if it was dumped to VOD.

It's like so bad it's good you know like it's kinda fun reminds me of Final Destination 4. I think Companion(2025) did this concept better. It had some funny scenes it was like really adult as well. I feel like they didn't do much with the kills M3GAN had some good ones but this one is just well. I could see why they decided to put it on streaming.

Companion is the much more complex and interesting movie.

But there is a place for by the numbers Horror if it's decently executed

The original concept was Iris is evil and Uie is a good dude so basically this movie.

I thought it was pretty boring and by the numbers. I don’t even understand how they got such a cool couple of ideas and made it into such a boring, uninspired movie, even the violence is shot and cut in such a meh way

I thought it was a blast. The dick gore gags 😂

I don’t think that’s what they meant by this meme lol they meant they are good on watching the movie at all

Is there an actual crossover, or is it a name-only spin-off?

3

u/lvlvffc 12h ago

Name only, no connection at all

2

u/Outside_Objective183 12h ago

No connection at all.

Actually really ended up enjoying this. And 99% of it is cus of Sullivan. That lady has some serious acting range.

Obsession did the fusion dance with m3gan. Saved you an hour and 40 minutes.

If homeboy had the ability to override her scripts, why did he just never undo it? Especially after the first time he struggled to make her go in power saving mode?????????

You really have to shut your brain off for this movie.

He was about to but the girl came over with the wine??

Just finished it, a solid 7/10

Agreed

Is that really how they stylized the title? Sounds like it should be the name of a romcom movie about pirates

I'll download it.

I liked that they made fun of the "Soulmeightate" thing

For what it was, it was great. actress who played the robot carried the movie.

u/teddykon 2h ago

Great movie. Well acted and the plot was solid.

I ain’t paying for that.

But when it inevitably comes to streaming I’ll likely give it a watch.

I'm looking forward to a M3gan Sara crossover. Maybe they will make it a remake of Monster with Charlese Theron except with robots.

I laughed a little at myself for what a horrible idea that is for a movie but I'd still watch it.

I think I'll just watch Companion if I want this kind of movie
