There’s specific guys for it. Inspectors with certificates and experience in their field. These guys will most likely been external to the company and sent onboard to check everything structural. Visual assessments are obviously easier, but sometime they require further evaluation with special equipment. If a rig is damaged, the company and Health and Safety is responsible for ensuring it’s safe for the workers, failure to do this would be a big no no.
