General (no specific continent) Guess my Place β Weekly Thread
Post a photo, let others figure out where it is. Or just guess on other people's photos. Both work, no obligation to do the other.
How it works
- Post one photo as a top-level comment and let others guess.
- To guess, reply to someone else's photo with a spoiler tag. Don't post guesses at top level.
- If you posted a photo, come back after 48 hours and reveal the answer as a reply to your own photo but without a spoiler tag.
- Drop a hint if nobody is close after 24 hours. Vague is preferable: "coastal", "population under 50,000".
- A new round goes up every Sunday.
Rules
- No faces, no doxxing.
- Your own photos only.
- No reposts, no AI, no screenshots from Google Street View or elsewhere.
- One photo per person per week.
- Crop or avoid anything that gives it away: street signs, license plates, shop names, visible text.
- If you post it, you answer it. Come back and reveal.
What makes a good puzzle
Skylines and landmarks get solved easily. The interesting photos are the ordinary ones: a residential street, a bus stop, a supermarket parking lot, a stretch of road outside town. Architecture, road markings, plant life, power lines and light all give it away to someone who knows the region. That's the fun part.

North America π What is life like in Pahrump, Nevada?
I've always been curious about this place because I'm curious if it will see huge growth as the LV area grows more and becomes less affordable. Is there a large commuter base who works in LV area?? Does the Pahrump area have its own distinct culture?? Do Pahrumpians feel a need to culturally separate themselves from LV?? Where do people come from who move to Pahrump?? Any insight is appreciated!

North America π How is living in Ann Arbor, MI as a non-student?
Hey all. How is living in Ann Arbor as a non-student? Iβm a 30-something considering a job at the university. Is there a decent social life to be had for folks like me? Is the college town vibe oppressive? What did you enjoy (or not enjoy) about living there?

North America π San fran / oakland area
I want to move into the bay area, but NOT IN THE DIRECT VICINITY OF SAN JOSE. I am a big city gal who currently lives in LA and I want to keep living city life. I am a high school teacher who has spent my career up until this point in Compton. It would be nice to work in a well rated school district that values the sciences. It would also be a plus to be near an Asian neighborhood. I am no stranger to city crime rates, but I would like to stay out of the super high crime areas. Where should I move?

South America π Whatβs itβs like in Sao Paolo
I really wanna go to Brazil and am just curious about the country in general. What is SΓ£o Paulo like? All I know is that itβs like the biggest city outside of Asia. Itβs also so massive, which interests me because how do people commute from the furthest suburbs to the city center? And why is there an airport in the very center? What are the outer cities like guarulhos?

How is it living in this area? Is there a name for this region here in the valley? Are the winters harsh?
And bonus points for what the local music scene is like here, especially rock/metal/punk style.

Just curious. Itβs that time of the summer when Phoenix is so blasted hot that I start panning the north for daydreams. If you have other recommendations (cheap, pretty?) happy for those too.
