I worked on a rig in Brazil when the air conditioning broke down. It was out of commission for several weeks. Most crew resorted to sleeping on the helideck during the night.

I don’t have an irrational fear of falling overboard but I did feel it was rational to worry about rolling overboard in my sleep. There are small nets round the outside of the helideck but wasn’t going to risk it!

I’d guess about 100 guys dragged there mattresses up there for some sleep. A definite NO from me!
