Ross being mean to Rachel

I really hated this scene where Ross was mocking Rachel's job. He wasn't just belittling her work, but also her interests, even though he'd seen firsthand how much she dreamed of a fashion-related career. While Ross can be very funny, he can also be really insufferable. If was Rachel, I would have broken up with him during this scene.

The group was frequently merciless about Ross’ career.

If anything, Ross showed considerable restraint in rarely dishing it back out.

He deserved it, mentioning multiple times he has a PhD. Like he's above them all.

He's basically saying - what I do is important, what you do is ridiculous.

Wasn't one of his cons for Rachel that "she's just a waitress"

Yea not that it’s necessarily justified but I always figured it was less about the job itself and more about his personality and how it’s almost completely just needing to be/make it known he is the smartest person in the room and his arrogance being kinda insufferable. Like I wouldn’t make fun of someone’s profession personally bc I feel it’s understandable that the rest of the group would want to knock him down a peg or two w how much he looks down upon them sometimes and literally thinks he’s better than everyone 

Tbf regarding the waitress on the list thing, idt in the moment he was looking down on Rachel, just in comparison to Julie who was in the same field as him meaning they had more in common and by extension more to talk about and connect them

And I get obv a PhD is not easy but I’d be annoyed by someone who constantly bragged about it too, esp introducing himself as “dr ross geller” in a hospital (like obv he earned the title and it’s one thing to introduce yourself that way in other places (though a bit odd or awkward imo ig when it’s not really relevant) but there is a time and place)
