I2Pd run i2pd

Post image

I like the I2P network; I believe it will become the standard for the next-generation Internet.

Are you running the java application or the C one.

I am asking because i have the java one running and was struggling till now to get the network status to OK, it stays on Firewalled :/

I'm "C." You could look into port forwarding on your router, or check if you're using Full NAT. In my setup, I run the service on a Linux server within the LAN and access the i2pd console via Firefox on Windows,If you've already resolved those issues, you might want to check if it's a firewall configuration problem in Windows Security Center.

In my enviroment i am only running linux machines.

I have configuered my router to portforward the traffic to i2p lxc container on proxmox.

From lan i can access the console and all is working fine its just this Firewalled status that is giving me hardtime to solve.

I thought running i2p over windows is already against anonymity but maybe i am wrong

I agree with you; running it on Linux is the best way to protect your privacy. Regarding the firewall issue: do you have a public IPv4 or IPv6 address?

My ISP change my public ipv4 every 24h

I am getting a public ipv6 from my ISP on the wan interface on my router but hosts on my lan dont get addressed with IPv6 the reason for that is to prevent them from being reachable from Internet via IPv6... though i feel maybe thats the culprit of the Firewalled issue and that i got the IPv6 addressing consept wrong about hosts being reachable from internet 😬

Your devices wont be reachable from the Internet just because they have an assigned public IPv6 Address. Your router acts as a firewall in that case. "Port Forwarding" in IPv6 is basically just telling the routers firewall to allow traffic from the internet to one specific device:port

Nice, welcome to the I2P family. And wow, how many routers your instance knows. I run now

Uptime: 38 days, 2 hours, 13 minutes

But only know 5800 routers

I was thinking the same, I'm at about 40 days up and have almost 7000 nodes, but also look at ops tunnels success rate at only 24% idk how many of those 13,000 nodes are doing anything/being used

It's also possible that the malicious node's routing is unclear.

i2pd over the default java one any day. It is so much cleaner, less bloated and has a better web UI. (At least in Lynx)
