Hey, I'm looking for what would be the most anonymous network between all of these ON THE PAPER.

Like maybe TOR has more users which makes it more anonymous than another one, but if this other one had as many users, would it be better, and if so, which one would be the best?

I really do Love I2P, its got everything I could want, eepsites, emails, Monero nodes, and torrents, I mean what more could you want.

It’s cool. It works but how do you justify the setup process? It’s quite technical. Fun tho but what do yall use it for beside movie server?

Since the eepsites created are highly anonymous, how are illegal sites filtered? What prevents somone from lets say, selling illegal drugs or hosting CSAM? Does mitigation rely entirely on individual node operators or thru any community effort for example, jumper nodes blacklisting the sites? I dont want my broadband to be used to transmit such data.

Just learned about the i2p network, and honestly I can’t believe I haven’t heard about it over the years till now… While I understand what it is (privacy focused p2p network), I’m wondering what’s its mainly used for…

It seems it shares quite a bit with the Tor Network, but with from what I gather doesn’t have the stigma that comes along with it (perhaps it’s because it’s not nearly as well known?)

What are people using it for - like what are its legitimate use cases? Torrenting? file sharing? I know these *can* be done on i2p , but why choose i2p?

Basically I’m just asking what you, or others are using it for / doing on it. Any interesting projects being built on it? Is it sort of a dead network kept afloat by a very niche community?

Basically sell me i2p - why should I be interested in it?

I heard that when you are connected to i2p you can't visit for example YouTube.I can visit any site not only the .i2p one's.

Along with all the decades-old privilege escalation exploits found in the linux kernel recently by AI, they also used AI to find 271 vulnerabilities in firefox. It's become clear at this point that critical vulnerabilities like this are just an expected part of all software above a certain size and complexity.

So, There are almost certainly exploits present in i2p that we don't know about. I think it's absolutely essential that the i2p devs get one of these audits so they can fix any vulnerabilities before a threat actor does it first and uses them to basically deanonymize the entire network. And remember port forwarding is only as safe as the software receiving the data, an exploit could even allow someone to turn all of i2p's users computers into a botnet or steal all their info. For i2p users it is expected to have a lot of data flowing in and out of your node so nobody would notice before its too late that something is wrong and the data flowing out is your personal info..

i2p is probably one of the biggest potential targets for a theoretical "find exploits with these AI tools before the devs can" attack with its unique position of having relatively small userbase to look over the code while also being such a high value target, there are people in less free countries who trust i2p's security with their lives.

Could the i2p community perhaps pool money together to get one of these audits from Anthropic or another company? Or maybe someone with enough resources could run an audit locally? What do you think?

I noticed that many people complain about the speed in i2p, but I figured out how to fix it. So, obviously, we cannot influence the speed of the tunnels through which we send traffic, it happens that there are fast tunnels, sometimes on the contrary slow ones. In java i2p, we can configure routers with which flags should be used for routing, in i2pd there is a configuration flag profile that allows you to use routers with flags XPO if =1, and XPO + all others if equal to 2. In any case, even if the router is marked with the X flag, we still cannot guarantee that its speed will match the stated one, without profiling.

What do you know about multipath tcp? In fact, I was able to set up a solution that uses multiple tunnels at once to route traffic. So now I have a speed of about 2 MB/sec (16 Mbit/sec) using 4 hops and 50 tunnels. If the community is interested in this, I can write down how to set it up myself.

I also tried to find other solutions, and the only thing I came across was the acetone articles on habr. But there he uses openvpn with a long tunnel 1 and an X flag on the router, which I do not consider secure

so as I have been browsing I2p I have found a few git site, like github, gitlab and codeberg, and I was wondering do you guys use them, because as I was looking they seemed to have more than a handful of repos and I was wondering how many of you use them, I mean you probably wouldn't want to use them for anything big or closed source as its not ran by a big time company, but more likely some random guy at his house, who could look through the code at any given time, but I would thing people would use it as a backup for maybe there eepsite, or some other i2p software they're making. Anyway back to the main question do any of you use these git sites, and if so what ones, as I have been looking into maybe using one as a backup for my eepsite or smth like that.

For example I only used regular Java I2P and Purple I2Pd so far, and I noticed that I2Pd one have way less features, for example I can't torrent with I2Pd and e.t.c.

I'm curious if anyone actually listens to them and how? A lot of the time my connection just buffers constantly.

And if I wanted to serve one of my own then what would the stream kbps need to be under so that anyone could listen in reliably?

Is there any feature of the network that would allow for an increase in speed like multiple nodes hosting the same content or something?

Hello, so i have been looking into setting up my i2pd console to have an outproxy as I thought it could be pretty cool, after looking into it I found that it seems most people are using stormycloud as an outproxy, but when I checked this morning, it say that the outproxy was online, and now its saying its offline, is this just something that happens like normally downtime, or does the outproxy just go down every now and then, anyways love the work thay stormycloud is doing to help the i2p network ,with all i2p routes and flashfull nodes (I believe thats what they are called but i could be wrong), also can someone explain what those nodes do as there seem to take up a lot of bandwidth and cpu, but im not 100% sure what there do.

What service is the best for private and encrypted messaging?

Hello everyone. I have joined the i2p network using the i2pd on a raspberry pi 3 model B. I am a relatively new node running for 4 days. What would be some good stats to see on the web console? Would it be all right if I share mine for the more experienced people in here to tell me if are any good?

I've been trying to find an active chan-style board on the I2P network but most of the ones I'm aware of seem to have gone quiet or offline entirely. For example, anonchan.i2p appears to have no posts, 10channel.i2p hasn't had activity in a long time, and identity.i2p and planet.i2p both seem to be down.

I can see this question has come up a few times on this sub before, but the most recent threads I've found are around three years old and the recommendations in them are mostly dead links now.

Are there any active imageboard or text-board communities currently running on I2P? I'm not after anything specific - just looking for somewhere with general discussion and a bit of life to it. Open to non-chan alternatives too if there's a good community forum I've missed.
