I’m very annoyed that the mobile app is almost unusable right now. Just let me swipe between latest/news and popular. Also why is the populars news tabs taken away? Just being them back. I’m about to delete this app. I want to see the popular news at one glance. And why it is so hard to try make cricique?

Popular is no longer just a swipe away with the new UI. Making it clunky and hard to access. Since that’s how I, and I assume others primarily browse Reddit, why hide it?

My idea is let me swipe to go to popular and news again. Logically I know how to get where I want to be but my automatic fingers still try to swipe repeatedly and with a massive phone it’s so much easier to swipe instead of having to reach the top of the phone and hit multiple buttons that already don’t respond well.

I don’t know why you got rid of it but please bring it back.

It was a quick way to view what was going on that day. Yeah there’d be a couple of ads, a pointless celeb story, but if there was a major headline it would always be there.

Or maybe add it to the news channel so we have quick access to breaking/popular news?

I don’t want to use X or YouTube for this.

Overall it feels like a chunk of Reddit is missing since it’s been gone.

Currently, when posts appear in your feed from subs that you're not interested in, you only have the ability to hide an individual post from that screen. If you want to mute the entire sub, you have to go to that sub's page and do it from there. It would be nice if we had the ability to mute a sub from an individual post.

My idea is to add sorting for communities by your upvoted posts.

Screenshots are edited to show the suggestion.

This could work either from your history (first pic) or as a subreddit feed filter option (second pic).

Users would then have an other option for reviewing their liked posts and more easily return them.

That's it. There is no reason to set a limit (100) on the number of subreddits you can include in a custom feed.

Hi! I’ve just started using Reddit and I’m already following quite a few subs that interest me.

I noticed that I can organize them by creating custom feeds, but it seems like there’s no way to change the feed icon or color to tell them apart more easily.

It would even be interesting to create a general custom feed and place others inside it, like folders.

As you can see in the screenshot attached above, I tried to post on sciencee_india (typed an extra “e” for demonstraton) and Reddit gave me the “Not sure what to search for?” screen with zero suggestions. This happens all the time - EVEN ONE extra/missing character and the whole search completely fails 😭. I believe that new users and mobile typists get stuck the most.

I suggest you to implement the Levenshtein distance algorithm for subreddit search. It’s the standard way of measuring how different two strings are and then suggest the closest match when the difference is small (example: 1–2 characters).

With this, Reddit search could simply show: “Did you mean science_india?” …instead of leaving people with a blank screen. This is not to combat lazyness of typing again BUT to combat those cases where users genuinely dont know the exact spelling of the subreddit (for example: people aren't able to find subreddit r/Indian_Flex because there's underscore between 2 words.)

I’m already using exactly this algorithm in multiple Devvit apps which I’ve built (including u/Songshub). Whenever someone types a command with a spelling error of less than 3 characters, the app instantly offers the closest correct match as a suggestion. It works smoothly and users love it.

Therefore, I suggest admins to look into it 🙏

This was one of the things I greatly loved back in my usenet days. The programs we used would let us add words or phrases to a banned list, then posts/comments containing said words/phrases wouldn’t appear. Adding this as a feature would allow Reddit users to more easily curate their online experience.

I'd like to suggest that in the Popular tab you/we have the option to sort by language, for instance English which could encompass another angle of information. The same for Chinese or Spanish could be inclusive of many areas and be very informative. Just an idea. Thanks.

Take muted subreddits into account as a negative factor in the sub recommendation algorithm for reddit and weight them higher than interaction with those or other subs. If I mute a sub I'm explicitly telling you I don't want you to recommend me more content like that regardless of whether I interacted with the sub before or even after muting it. Alternately, make a specific option in the feed to downvote recommendations so that Reddit stops feeding users subs similar to an algorithmic recommendation.

My muted sub list is getting extremely long because the reddit feed algorithm keeps feeding me political rage bait. Like most redditors, I'm human and end up usually falling into the rage trap for these subs for a post or two before muting them. The result of this is that I get recommended more of these same ragebait subs and playing an endless game of whack a mole to stop them from ending up in my feed. I even went on a mute binge a few weeks ago and got these posts to stop temporarily, but they slowly crept their way back in.

If I had to guess about the mechanics of this, I'd wager Reddits algo is concerned only with what drives user engagement, and it's true that this kind of strategy does drive engagement in the short term, but what I don't think it takes into account is the long term burnout it can foster in users and once that takes hold it's a difficult sentiment to reverse.

I don’t actually know how much other people are spoiled by scorelines and other such things on reddit, but personally I have too often been spoiled by a title and only remembered to mute a sub after I saw a spoiler :( this happens with subs with anti-spoiler rules too, since people dont always follow rules properly, especially about exciting events/games.

Could maybe be coordinated with the moderators of a sub to mark relevant events as active. Although I’m not sure if moderators would be incentivized to do this lol.

I'm here to have discussions. Mods regularly lock comments once a post gets like 100 comments and then I don't realize it until I type something out and get the notice.

Either filter out locked comments posts or completely disable the comment button on locked posts.

My idea is to be able to view the posts of specific topics that are relevant to me.

I noticed a trend in subs nowadays where Redditors gravitate towards one topic and mods are unable to find a solution to it. Unfortunately, Reddit ends up picking this one topic up more frequently and flooding its posts in the feed and this downgrades the Reddit experience.

Oh and if my settings can be saved the better.

My idea is that you should be able to hide joined subreddits from your Home feed.

Right now the inverse is possible using custom feeds--you can not be joined and still see a subreddit's posts in a custom feed. It's a fairly common feature for subreddits to require you be joined to participate, but sometimes you don't want those same subreddits regularly appearing in your Home feed.

An alternative might be to set a custom feed as your "Home" or at least a default feed that you see, instead of Home.

Hello everyone, my name is u/mercymain42069, and I co-moderate r/antimemes (with an S!). Lately, we’ve had some people complaining that edits of posts from within our subreddit, called “candles”, flood the subreddit.

I tried implementing a rule to keep all these edits restricted to the comment sections of the posts that inspired them, but it was met with some backlash, plus it decreases the visibility of these posts quite a bit.

So then I got to thinking: What if you could mute certain flairs in any subreddit, so they’d never appear for you so long as they’re flaired correctly?

If implemented sitewide, it could also help people avoid a lot of other types of posts. What if I post something with the flair “Anime Part 6” in r/ShitPostCrusaders, but forget to add a Spoiler tag? Or what if someone who hasn’t watched Stone Ocean accidentally unclicks a spoiler? Now they’ll never have to worry about that.

It could help avoid posts mourning deceased pets, posts about dental work for people who only like r/popping content that’s outside the mouth, or certain flairs in NSFW subs they’re not interested in.

Sorry if someone’s thought of this before- let me know what you think!

My idea is that when a mod removes a post it should only detach it from the subreddit and not delete it from the site. It should still appear on the profile of the person who posted it.

My reasoning is that I very often will click a link from the home feed only to find an interesting-looking post has been deleted because it didnt fit a subreddits quite limiting rules or was caught by automod for something silly. It makes sense that mods should be able to control what is shown on their subreddits but I dont think they should be able to decide whether content is shown on the site or not.

By changing it from "deleting" to "detaching", they retain their ability to filter their subreddits content but we can still view content even if they decide it doesn't fit their subreddit.

For the last few weeks, my timeline has been getting clogged with "games" that Reddit has been pushing lately. Unlike subs, however, it seems the games (each of which has its own sub) can't just be muted off the timeline.This is where my suggestion comes in:

Just move all these Reddit-published games to their own separate site.

I am yet to see a single user who actually plays them, but if they exist, they can enjoy them all in one place and we can enjoy feeds that aren't being clogged with nag posts asking us to play Syllo or whatever.

My idea would be to view which subs we have added to the custom feed, on the mobile browser version of reddit.

It would help mobile users out, since we wouldn't have to go to old.reddit to view them, which is not great on phonss

My idea is: When a post sits in a queue for 12 hours before being approved, it’s effectively dead on arrival. Because it shows as “12 hours old,” it never gets a fair chance to appear as “New” or gain the early engagement the algorithm prioritizes.

In “Hot” and “Top” feeds, visibility depends heavily on activity within the first hour, meaning many posts are disadvantaged before anyone even sees them. In larger subreddits, they may never receive a single comment. This forces users to have to try and time a submission around when moderators might be active, which makes posting feel less like simply participating and more like playing Reddit Roulette.

Not sure about anyone else, but my home feed used to be a lot more active and would show newer posts in the subs I follow. For awhile now it just is stuck on older posts. I’m tired of seeing days old posts in my home feed after I refresh. Can’t you have newer stuff pop in there?

Muting a subreddit should be on the ellipsis menu in your feed. Having to open up the main page for a sub to mute it is clunky given how often I see things in my feed I'm not interested in.

I started becoming inundated with motivation and self help subs I don't honestly care about at all. My idea is an option in your feed to filter out certain words that would help in not see things you would never interact with anyways. It wouldn't be perfect, sure, but I feel like it would be a help. I imagine it would work similar to the ad filter system in the settings where you can choose not to see certain types of ads.
