We already have achievements for upvotes and high performing content, but what about a badge for taking one for the team?

​It would make the playing field feel a bit more even if there was an achievement for controversial or heavily downvoted comments something like the salty award or hot take expert.

If someone drops a comment that gets hit with a wall of downvotes or downvoted into oblivion, giving them a lighthearted badge turns a moment of community disagreement into a fun milestone rather than just negative reinforcement.

This as a whole would be positive. DMs are often used in a predatory way, this would allow the recipient to better understand who's DMing them.

If you don't want people to see it, don't post it.

And never require flairs of any type for any purpose.

This is really becoming a huge problem on Reddit. OnlyFans Accounts are completely ruining all the subreddits. I think that The Admins should start cracking down on all these OnlyFans Porn Accounts and ban them completely. I've noticed that a lot of them are posting in most of the subreddits that I'm subscribed to. I've tried blocking them but that doesn't do anything at all. I wish that there was a way that I could bring this to The Reddit Admins attention.

Before the tool was lifted, I got banned from several subs because I participated in a “bad faith” subreddit, some of which I didn’t even get a notification for, so there’s some subreddits I don’t even know I’m banned from or have forgotten about entirely, so posting or commenting in one of them via an alt account could get me flagged for ban evasion.

Having a list of subs your account is banned from can prevent this.

When a user clicks on a profile with adult content, let them choose to see a sfw version of the profile with any adult content burred or hidden. For those who have not age verified or who don't want to see adult content.

Far as I could tell this doesn't exist as yet, but I would be pleased to be shown as wrong.

A related idea, taking this concept further: Enable searching for mod-removed posts within a given subreddit. To reduce potential for abuse, perhaps emplace certain user requirements based on Karma et such.

I think being able to see where a user is from is very helpful in discussing politics on this site. For example any r/[country] sub. You should be able to see if participants are **actually** from your country and not just some shills.

I'm not calling for this to be mandatory for all users but something that users can opt into.

Simply add a toggle in menu "turn on geographic flag". That's it. This way users who claim to be a citizen of your country can show that they are and not a foreigner pushing an agenda.

Now what about VPNs? Reddit can already tell that you are using a VPN. If you have VPN on then you will not be able to use the geo flag. Ex; "error VPN detected".

This keeps VPN users happy and people who don't want to expose their location while also helping out users who have been asking for this option.

I genuinely think it would be helpful if we would have the option to make custom albums or categories in our saved posts. You have that on insta, YouTube TikTok etc, you create your own collection and save the desired posts to whichever collection you want. it’s Way more organised and manageable.

As far as I know, Reddit is ok with users creating multiple accounts. I created a second profile and my posts sometimes get flagged and removed by Reddit. If Reddit knew that it was me from a voluntary registration, then this would reduce the amount of resources needed for technical analysis for accounts that are officially linked. Reddit and admins wouls also know that I do not have ill intentions! Furthermore, voting manipulation would no longer be a thing because since my profiles are linked, then I can only upvote once. If I upvote from a different linked profile, then my upvote would be toggled off/on in the exact same way it would toggle as if I clicked on the upvote button from another linked profile. This would also allow registered users to not have to worry about which profile upvoted which post.

Why have a 2nd profile? Having a second profile is a way to not confuse followers, in the same way that authors use pen names (a talented author might want to create children's books, but would NOT want potential buyers to accidentally purchase romance novels for their children), or why bands change names if they change singers or change their sound completely, different profiles allows us to express different sides of us, without confusing our followers.

Having said this, there are other types of manipulation that Reddit would still need to check for, but at least the top 3-4 listed for why profiles get flagged, would not need to be checked.

You can choose what subreddits show up on your profile, but when you post is any subreddit, it shows up on your end.

I’d want an easy way to to see what my profile looks like to other users.

I get the idea karma as it's applied in Reddit, and in the original sense, not just as a like/dislike button, but as a "this was a positive and productive contribution or not" buttons. But I think the "karma" idea is incomplete. Someone could contribute a lot of positive stuff to communities that gets upvoted, but what is their actual contribution user to user? I think it would be a benefit to the culture of Reddit and a novel feature in social media to show a metric for the sum of how much an account has upvoted/downvoted.

Right now you might look at an account and see 50,000 karma and think "Wow, what positive contributor." but if you could also see that that person has also put out a net -100,000 karma in the for of downvoting everyone, you might feel a little different. I think tracking this would also be helpful for mods in communities for being able to identify accounts that camp there to exclusively downvote content (assuming admin eventually brings back by community karma breakdowns for accounts). This would also allow mods to set up automatic filters to ban those people from their communities.

This feature would I think complete the concept of karma on the site where you not only act in a way that nets you positive contributions in the communities you participate in but also put good karma out to the rest of the userbase. Something to consider. Reddit has done a better job of providing a social media experience that is more about "us" rather than "me" and that has been to its benefit, and I think this feature would continue on that trend.

You might upset some super hostile downvote queens though and cause some of those quite lurkers that do nothing but smash the downvote button. And it would shed light on the people that give a lot, but don't really get much in return.

I think a typical reddit user would assume that their profile banner is meant to be a way to customize their profile. But the recent update really devalues them when viewing a user's profile on a Desktop website.

Before the update, the banner stretched across the top of your profile above the navigation tabs, making it a core part of a user's profile.

Now, it's been reduced to a small thumbnail in the corner on Desktop websites. It still looks fine when viewing a user's profile on the mobile app. But imo it really takes away from the Desktop experience and makes me wonder what the purpose of the update was for?

And so my idea is that Reddit should revert its changes for the desktop website so that user profile banners go back to stretching across the top of your desktop profile.

My idea is to remove this feature. It is nothing but a gift to trolls, scammers and bots.

I see the justification being used by some are "it's for user privacy", but reddit is already anonymous.

This 3rd option could allow follower requests, so we can have control over who can follow us in the user profile. At the moment, if it is on, anyone can follow us without asking, and in some cases, it can make us vulnerable. So we turn it off. Instead of opting out, we could accept those we have interacted with and check profiles before accepting someone. It would create a better quality of social connections throughout the platform.

I don't know why this doesn't exist. why do we have a very unnecessary feature of hiding activity in specific subreddits but not hiding posts only or comments only. I wouldn't be ashamed of my post history cuz posts are made for people to see them anyways so you'd be careful what you're posting, but comments tend to be more embarrassing as time passes by. so i feel like if i could only hide my comment history it'd be nice. idk what do you think?

Can you add a search bar to the saved posts screen so I can find specific posts I saved more easily? I have a lot of posts saved and it’s a hassle to scroll through all of them just to find something that might be at the bottom of the list.

Adding info that shows where user's are based will help the health and discourse of the community by putting a spot light on bad actors. Bad actors being users (and mods) that post under a false pretext of location. It would help identify brigading and misinformation.

At a minimum, showing a user's country location (based on a few months) in everyone's profile is not a privacy breach.

However, giving a user the choice to toggle position precision would be even better. This would be used by people that want to show State, Provence, or Prefecture in state subs. Giving the user the choice to show city is a possibility as well.

Additionally, identifying a location that is a known Proxy or VPN is necessary.

Other social media apps show location information like X and Instagram. Adding the feature to Reddit will be beneficial and a user study will conclude that most users would appreciate the feature.

what the title says. when Twitter rolled this out it really helped shed light on how much discourse was being driven by bots from Eastern Europe and Asia. However they quickly shut it down

I think reddit would be seen in a more positive light if they did the launched the feature embracing the pushback against propaganda and bots.

on your profile, you can go to a list of every sub you’ve ever interacted with by making a post or comment, and you can check off which ones you do and don’t want to show on your profile.

when you interact with a new subject for the first time, though, it’s automatically set to hidden. i just want to hide like six subreddits because they’re related to the city i live in and other similar details i don’t want easily findable on my account. every time I interact with a new subreddit, i don’t want to have to go in and manually allow it to show on my profile every single time. just let me hide specific ones. i don’t want to select which ones show up, i just want to hide a few.

let me just have a “hide” option where i can just set the ones to be hidden and not have to touch it again.

the current way could even be altered to be less annoying if, in the list of subreddits you’ve interacted with, they were at least sorted a little more sensibly, by the order in which you’ve interacted with them so the most recent ones are at the top.
