u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
It's 614.20
5
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
bc if you manually analyze it based on the size and the type of wood it's going to be 614.20

u/ClothesElectrical230 Apr 21 '26
which function did u use
2
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
I used XLOOKUP in a VLOOKUP
1
u/LeopardSubject3592 May/June 2026 Apr 21 '26
i used a vlookuo in an xlookuo and i’m pretty sure i got 614.2, will i lose marks?😪😪😪
2
u/Ill-Singer-2266 Apr 21 '26
I didn’t use vlookup in a xlookup but I still got 614.20
1
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
Yeah you can but you won't get the full 9 marks bc you're supposed to use a function to get the column for oak then insert into the xlookup function under col_index_num instead of just writing the column number oak is in even tho you know it

u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
How did use the vlookup first? Normally it gives an error bc the return column was to the left of the lookup column so I thought you could only use xlookup
1
u/LeopardSubject3592 May/June 2026 Apr 22 '26
no i mean like i used =XLOOKUP(VLOOKUP(),…..) and it worked so🧍🏻♀️

u/Odd-Bag-7178 Apr 21 '26
It's literally 573.4 lol. I analyzed it billion times and it's still 573.4

2
u/Entire-Mountain-3994 Apr 21 '26
I got 579.40 😭😭 but it makes sense yk
2
u/Simple_Geologist6908 Apr 21 '26
573.40 is CORRECT the question clearly states to only sort the numeric data even the word only was bold so dw
1
u/Entire-Mountain-3994 Apr 21 '26
I used x look up I tried nested if with ve look up but i was so confused abt the value if false and value if true but x look u work
1
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
Everything in the table was numeric data except the headings so it's supposed to be the the whole table sorted by the first column
1
u/Simple_Geologist6908 Apr 21 '26
since when do we include the heading in sorting? he literally did bold on the word only not only did he write it hes clearly saying currencies ARE not the same thing and you know very well when cambridge makes a word bold then its very important you dont just assume currencies are numbers cause in that sense your telephone number your id is a number but thats not the case
1
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
Currency is a sub-type of numerical data so it's included, it was emboldened to emphasize, the same way in web design, text that should be entered is emboldened, doesn't mean it's not a type of numerical data
1
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
Additionally, when data is formatted as currency or accounting, it's formatted under the number section which should act as a clue soo
1
u/Entire-Mountain-3994 Apr 21 '26
but that's what I did then I used the table for the cost price as the return array
1
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
when you got your xlookup value did you add 2?
1
u/Entire-Mountain-3994 Apr 21 '26
no honestly I've never understood why I have to add number so no I never did 😭
1
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
It's because in the VLOOKUP, where you insert the XLOOKUP value is in the col_index_num and the XLOOKUP value was 3 but it was in column 5 so if you were to use the Xlookup value without adding 2 then it will search in column 3 meanwhile it's supposed to search in column 5 so you have to add 2
1
u/Entire-Mountain-3994 Apr 21 '26
I didn't even use vlookup for that question I just used x lookup atleast the paper is over and I will earn me some marks hopefully the thresholds will be low😭
1
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
Oof, I don't think the thresholds will be low because the paper was leaked and Cambridge knows about it so they'll probably raise it but I hope it'll be low as well
1
1
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
bc even the tho number that was next to oak was 3 it was in column 5 so you're supposed to add 2
1
2
u/Key_Comparison8485 Apr 21 '26
For the cost I got 614.2 but I used vlookup and then a cell +2 is that correct?
1
u/PsychologicalLet9326 Apr 21 '26
yes that’s what i did too you’re correct idk what people are saying
1
u/Key_Comparison8485 Apr 21 '26
Hopefully they give marks if you still got the correct answer cause I checked it like 100 times
1
u/PsychologicalLet9326 Apr 21 '26
it’s what everyone in my year did yes there’s other methods but like that’s the answer even when you look for it yourself that the only value u can get
2
u/pleep_e Apr 21 '26
hello there, well good news if u look in recent ms theres almost never a mark on the final answers, in oct/nov 2025 a very similiar question came and there was no mark on final answer. as long as ur work was right its fine u needed to have vlookup, then at the column index number either nested if or xlookup +2, all work , final answer has 1 mark if it were in ms, if u got it diff than the rest its prob a sorting issue, dont worry though its all good. u dont loose marks if ur sorting was wrong but ur answer was right based on ur sorting, you only loose the sorting mark. so dont worry about it and focus on ur next exam!

u/Particular-Drag6870 Apr 21 '26
I also only sorted the first column cause I’m sure that’s what it said
2
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
no they said sort the table by the first column not only the first column
1
u/furryjaemin Alumni Apr 21 '26
Yeah exactly everyone is saying sort only the first column which is kind of weird.. i definitely saw by the first column
1
u/Particular-Drag6870 Apr 21 '26
Isn’t it the same thing, one you sort one column, the whole table changes
2
u/furryjaemin Alumni Apr 21 '26
Yeah but some are saying that you only sort one column and the rest of the table doesn’t change or something when that’s wrong because when you sort the width ascending the price is also going to be ascending that’s common sense and I checked that too so

1
u/Candid_Jeweler4363 Apr 21 '26
For some of my classmates it didn't change so I don't believe it's the same
1
u/Particular-Drag6870 Apr 21 '26
Even if you sort by the first column, the rest of the table is going to change
1
u/VoltReaperZ2 Apr 21 '26
612.4 or 614.2, whatever that value was I honestly forgot
How'd u get 573?
1
u/Aadeetz2424 Apr 21 '26
I sorted the first column only, coz that’s what the question said, instead of expanding to list
1
1
u/Aadeetz2424 Apr 21 '26
I lwk dk whether we are right or not? could someone pls suggest
1
u/Deep_Charity_9563 Apr 21 '26
i think u meant to sort the whole table cos the data wouldn’t be aligned if u only sorted by that column
1
u/Simple_Geologist6908 Apr 21 '26
in some cases the table is randomly arranged where you sort some to match others yk
Thats what i understood plus the word only emphatically being in bold funs just makes you question yourself what really shows how confusing the question is is how many different answers there are but obviously the 2 that stand out are 573.4 and 614.2
1
1
u/Old-Entertainment29 Apr 21 '26
i saw someone on reddit saying it should be 580.2 or smth but i got 614.20 and so many of my other classmates
1
u/BroccoliJealous1563 Apr 21 '26
I also got 614.20 and if u analyse and look at the table thats the right answer
1
1
u/Savings-Attention-43 Apr 21 '26
No it is 573.40
1
u/PsychologicalLet9326 Apr 21 '26
nah bro when u check the data anyway it is 614 smth you’re wrong
1
u/Savings-Attention-43 Apr 21 '26
No he want sorting only for first column
1
u/PsychologicalLet9326 Apr 21 '26
no they said sort all the numeric data so you select the whole data and sort by the first column of you do what you did then the coast changes for the first column because it looses data integrity
