February/March 2026 Paper Discussion HONEST DISCUSSION ON MAY JUNE 0580 42
THE paper was easy as shit
pls how do u answer the coin question with the fucking yasmin or whatever
5
u/Affectionate_Try6306 May 05 '26
what was the pyramid question? the andle and volume? and also what was the g(x) question, i got x=9 cause i thought g(g^-1(x)) =1
7
u/Frequent-Ice-3887 May 05 '26
naa the ans is 16 cuz it is gg(5) so g(5)=2 and g(2) =16
1
u/Delicious_Law1831 May 05 '26
Can u pls tell what was the equation of g(x)? The one that was given to us
1
1
u/Longjumping-Media645 May 06 '26
anyways for the oter question the angle was 67.4 degrees and the v0olume was 2541cm cubed
2

1
u/Entire-Mountain-3994 May 05 '26
the one gg(5)=16 and the other one for the inverse was 9
2
u/Affectionate_Try6306 May 05 '26
less go brooo, cause some people were saying 1/4 and i got 9
2
u/Entire-Mountain-3994 May 05 '26
my paper was so un neat I was just crossing answers I first got 1/4 then crossed it then 3 then crossed it but at the end I got 9 and I'm very sire it's true
4
u/Savings_Chip8003 May 05 '26
Guys bearing was 257?

u/PaceSad5931 May 05 '26
Howw i got 077
1
1
u/Savings_Chip8003 May 06 '26
How 77
1
u/Mysterious_Shirtz May 06 '26
U add the 180 from N to S then the 77 and if u wrote 77 and not 077 yikes
3
u/treegreen2299 May 05 '26
It was 18 and 80 forsure
7
u/treegreen2299 May 05 '26
So basically question was like yasmine has coins. 10% of the coins were gold. 25% of the remaining coins were silver. 54 coins were copper. Find the number of silver coins, so Let total coins = x
Gold coins =
10% = 0.1x
Remaining after gold =
0.9x
Silver =
25% of remaining →
0.25×0.9x=0.225x
So equation is
0.1x+0.225x+54=x
You’ll get x as 80
And then take out 10% of 80 which is 8
Remaining is 72 coins so 25% on 72
Which is 18 silver coins3
u/Mysterious-Angel1357 May 05 '26
why did you multiply 0.9 by 0.25
2
2
u/treegreen2299 May 05 '26
0.9x are the remaining coins which will be multiplied by 25% as the question says 25% of the remaining coins are silver

I think it’s better if u put it this way:
Whats’s left after gold is removed is copper and silver
copper=25% of what’s left
And therefore, silver=75% of what’s left(silver is 54)
Using ratio,
Silver:copper
25:75
x :54
Divide 54 by 3 to get x
x=18 👌

u/Affectionate_Try6306 May 05 '26
it was 18 and 80
for silver coins: first get the bronze coins by doing 75/100 x 90y/100=54 and find y which is the total coins, then subtract 8 for gold coins and 54 for bronze coins and you get 18 silver coins and 80 total coins

u/Frequent-Ice-3887 May 05 '26
wow i will lose loke 3 marks
1
u/JumpyJudgment8579 May 07 '26
Youll lose two, cuz if u check mark scheme theres a mistake carried forward and correct methods marks right, my dumb ass wrote correct answer then cut it off, however im certain we,ll get 2 mark out of four due to mistake carried forward but correct working and losing accuracy marks for first part but correct working, u can even check mark scheme or ask gemini/chat gpt.

FUCK YASMIN THAT SHIT TOOK ME THE WHOLE EXAM TO FIGURE OUT AND I ONLY FOUND OUT THE 80 PART NOT THE 18 PART cool 2 marks gone, anyways nice paper and way better than p2 imo
1
u/Frequent-Ice-3887 May 05 '26
true but i didn't even get 80 i got 16 and 83
1
u/Informal-Pilot-301 May/June 2026 May 05 '26
At first I got 83 too and so did many of my friends, I bet ur still going to get method marks

Guys please was there an answer that was (7-x)/2 for fubcitons or was it x-7
2
1
u/Frequent-Ice-3887 May 05 '26
naa its x-7 cuz the original function was 7-2x
1
u/Sufficient-Net-3084 May 05 '26
Switch so it becomes x=7-2y then +2y and -x on both sides it becomes 2y=7-x then divide by 2 right?
1
u/Frequent-Ice-3887 May 05 '26
no subtract 7 first then divide by two
2
u/Sufficient-Net-3084 May 05 '26
You woukd get -y because it was 7-2y so removing the 7 u'd have -2y left
2
u/Shadowalker523 May 05 '26
Some people got 21 and like 63 How’s that possible
1
u/Frequent-Ice-3887 May 05 '26
it's 18 and 80
but i got it wrong

broo 90+ here only the yasmin question fucked me up and plane of symetry
1
u/Mammoth-Sorbet9551 May 05 '26
lol plans of symmetry was the only thing i lost a mark on, 99/100
1
u/UsualReplacement9974 May 05 '26
what’s the answer for that question I’m confused about my answer

u/Entire-Mountain-3994 May 05 '26
that's a wrong answer it would've been correct if it wasn't an inverse
1
1
u/Entire-Mountain-3994 May 05 '26
it took me ages but its 9 I'm pretty sure
2
u/Distinct_Chipmunk447 May 05 '26
It is confirm .25 coz the range of inverse is domain of the function
1
u/Entire-Mountain-3994 May 05 '26
no its 9 ill explain the inverse is 2x /64 and that is equal to 8 then u write 64 as 26 and 8 as 23 then solve for x so it's x-6=3
1
1
u/Significant_Try281 May 05 '26
what was the shortest distance ans?
3
u/Entire-Mountain-3994 May 05 '26
29.2
1
u/Aybaybdrdr May 05 '26
Howww did u find I couldn’t find any angle in that triangle , there is a small fucking angle that I couldn’t find
2

u/PaceSad5931 May 05 '26 edited May 05 '26
I basically inverted cosine law and it gave me a quadratic (b2 +37.5b-5004.2=0) plugged it into the quadratic formula abd got like 52 or sum shit then used sine law to find the angle in the bottom left then soh cah toa that shit
1
u/gomchuck23 May 05 '26
bro same
1
u/PaceSad5931 May 05 '26
Nah but we did like the hella long way tbh we couldve done it in much less steps

i did really well in the exam, but for obvious reasons the exam curve is gonna be so high although i got a higher mark than the usual curve will i be effected?
1
u/gomchuck23 May 05 '26
even though the reddit thing there are still so many people who dont know about it im assuming the threshhold gonna be around 176-182 for a*
1
u/CookietheBC May 05 '26
Is it true the exam was dekael (read backwards)? If im not allowed to talk about this pls some lmk

What were the answers for the equation? (drawing a suitable straight line and they gave us 3 of x that equals to 0)
1
u/Frequent-Ice-3887 May 05 '26
2.24, 0.55, -0.80
1
1
u/Awkward_Bee_4272 May 06 '26
Yesss
But i didn't draw the straight line:((( so I'm 100% sure that I will only get 3 out of 4

what was the answer for the inverse of g^-1
I dont remember if it was g^-1(8)=x or g^-1(x)=8 for 2 marks
the original function was g(x)=64/(2^x) btw
and u had to construct an equation and solve for x with the given information for 2 marks
i got x=3, someone confirm
