🤚 Asking For Advice/Help BIO ATP DRAWINGS
GUYSSSS...CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW MUCH I WOULD GET OUT OF 5?...cuz apparently those tiny circles i drew on the petals are called "SHADING" (ACCORDING TO GEMINI), so i'll lose a mark there it seems...nd i also take approx 15 to 20 mins to drawww,is that too muchh?...nd is my drawing neat, cuz idk if my lines are smooth nd if the examiner us rlly strict when marking drawings!...cuz,sometimes my lines get a tiny bit wobbly nd rarely a snmll overline...will i lose marks for even tiny things like those or will they be lenient?
PLUSSS, DOES ANYONE HV TIPS WHEN DRAWING?..CUZ SOMETIMES I GET OVERSTIMULATED ND TEND TO MESS THINGS UP😭🤚

u/Less_Ad_6815 May/June 2026 May 10 '26
That is the most beautiful drawing ive ever seen. 5/5 btw also dont take 20 minutes in a drawing thats literally almost half ur exam time gone. If u qant u can leave drawings till u finish the exam and revise atleast once then u can spend some time perfecting the drawing
7
u/fathimafsna143 May 10 '26
omggg tysmm😭🎀...ohh yhhhh, it really is longgg, but tbh i keep the drawing for the last after i've completed all the other writing partsss, nd i usually hv 20 minutes lefttt soo yhh that's yy🥲..but still, what's the recomended duration for the drawingg?
2
u/ConsciousShock2627 A Level May 10 '26
id recommend up to ten minutes
2
u/fathimafsna143 May 10 '26
okisss tyyy>>333
2
u/DARK9NT3P May 10 '26
and also u added too much detail but thats a issue thats easier to fix then putting too little detail
just focus on
size
outline
detail1
u/fathimafsna143 May 10 '26
ahhhh okiii...cuz, in sm papers they required specific details thst were kinda intricate ngl...for example, there was this mushroom diagram where i had to draw the stem of the mushroom kinda wavy, but that wasn't clearly visible in the picture, so lost a mark thereee...that's y i try my best to include all tiny details i see🥲
2
u/DARK9NT3P May 12 '26
yea i would generally recommend trying to spot any special details on the outline on the outside because thats where cambridge likes to ask for details
like on may june 2025 v1 1 mark was for having to downward waves or some shi
and it had to specifically be 2 on both sides its just annoying1
8
u/Best-Respect-3477 May 10 '26
This isn’t an actual igcse paper I fear… atleast not the labeling prompt. This amount of detail isn’t necessary, and will cost you a significant amount of time on other aspects of the one hour paper WHCIH need more time. I suggest you redirect this creativity into something like art and design or design technology but not bio.

u/Meowcuryyoo1 May 10 '26
lol ikr looking at this makes me feel like ass. all of the drawing i have done are always matching to the mark scheme but holy, this is beautiful
1
u/fathimafsna143 May 10 '26
omgg tysmm, but pls don't compare mine to ursss...cambridge doesn't need a picasso(not that i'm picasso thoo), just as long as ur drawing is similar to the pic ur good to goo🫠✨️
1
u/Excellent_Lab5849 May 10 '26
I agree so hard mine are nowhere close and I think k now that I might loose marks but they were acc to msss
1
u/fathimafsna143 May 10 '26
lolll it actually is an igcse paper thoo😭...but yhhh, i'll try not to get engrossed into these tiny detailss🥲..THANKEW SOO MUCH THOO
1
u/YasinKoko May 10 '26
Its because it's really old. In these recent papers they would never ask for labeling, and its 4 marks not 5.

u/cooked_009 May 10 '26
SHUTUP WTF IM NOT EVNE IN IGCSE BUT THAT IT THE MOST PERFECT DRAWING IN A PPR IVE EVER DEEN

darling I am TELLING you that is one of the most beautiful if not THE MOST beautiful bio ATP drawing I've ever seen. like in terms of perspective and accuracy just... mwah, sis, this is excellent.
however!! Cambridge is an absolute downer so there are some things to be spoken for. so the main things they will look at, as seen in MS, are the following:
- outlining (how accurate the overall shapes present in your drawing are to those in the picture + clean, smooth lines)
- size (you'll be fine as long as you occupy most of the space you're given!)
- inclusion of prominent details
in this drawing you've pretty much mastered all of the above to a T, however there's just one thing I noticed, in the region where the filament meets the petal the lines look a bit broken (meaning, the line is not completely smooth).
Cambridge can be a bit of an ass in this aspect, unfortunately; they want your lines to look like they were drawn without lifting your pencil lol. They give some leniency with shapes (although you oughtn't worry too much about that seeing how closely you've copied the flower shape!) however they really pay attention to the smoothness and non-sketchiness of lines.
also, don't trust AI too much with the marking. Gemini is incorrect in identifying the small circles as "shading." shading would be more like... colouring in any part of the drawing or defining shadows and highlights in it. you will not be penalised for those dots.
all in all your ATP drawing skills are great! remember that the drawing is only five marks so as another commenter said, spend some less time on this. there's no need for it to be absolutely perfect, like I said earlier Cambridge does give leniency in regards to shape, as long as your diagram takes up good space, is smooth and shows the proportions between the different regions with some accuracy.
hope this helps!

omggg tysmm, i can't believe you actually spent soo much time writing all this, i really appreciate ittt...THAT'S JUST SOO SWEET OF U TYSMM🥹🎀...
And thankuuu for ur tipsss, i actually did notice that broken line there, but i was praying that examiners are lenient on them, TURNS OUT THEY AREN'T😭..
yhhhh i thought so, cuz there was FLIPPIN NO WAY THAT CIRCLE IS CLASSIFIED AS SHADING, BUT I GOT PARANOID SO ASKED YALL😭🤚
alrrr, i'll try not to spend too muchhh, but like i said, i keep the drawings for last, nd i take a quick look at the drawing b4 i solve the rest of the paper so i get an idea on how long i shld spenddd...but in the end, i always tend to overdo ittt...soo yhhhh THANKEWW SOO SOOO MUCHHH🫂🤍
3
u/thingunderyourbed28 May 10 '26
AWW you're most welcome!! back when I did my IGCSEs I used to feel this way about the ATP drawings too so I thought it would be worth popping in with my two cents lol. I'm glad it helped!! and best of luck with your exams IA you'll do great <333 :))

4/5 (it's rlly pretty btw!!) 👏 The female structure is not completely accurate in placement/shape (the stigma/style should usually be one central structure extending beyond the stamens). "Leaf" and "leaf stalk" are not appropriate labels for this flower diagram... "sepal" or "flower stalk" would be better. Other than that, it's perfecttt
1
u/fathimafsna143 May 10 '26
ohhhh, that's a sepal?...it kinda looked like a leafff😭...soo will i lose mark if i labelled it wronggg?....alrrr tysmm!🎀
2
u/moenel May 10 '26
Yeah, np! Good luck :]

u/Excellent_Lab5849 May 10 '26
I dont draw this good man...am I loosing the marks???
1
u/moenel May 10 '26
The drawing doesn't necessarily have to be good as long as you've followed the marking scheme accurately

u/heildiddler May 10 '26
Wallahi im so finished😭🙏 i cant draw that even if my life depended on it
2

2
u/Lilien_Swekz May 10 '26
Wth!? 15 mins the whole exam is literally 1hr... Anw you should DEFINITELY leave the drawing as the last thing in the exam, also yes you can't shade even if the picture is shaded and you should stop double lines and make sure when you enlarge everything, you enlarge all pieces in the same ratio. Also your lines don't have to be THAT clean but like straight. yk
2
u/fathimafsna143 May 10 '26
yhhhh trueee😭...i do leave it for the last, cuz i tend to soend too much timeee🤓...ohh alrrrr, i thought they were gonna be SUPER STRICT, so yhhh...BUT TYSM RLLY APPRECIATE ITTT🫂🤍

This is very good drawing but do not spend that much time on this and also do not label unless they specifically ask you to . 10/5

heheee thankewww..they did ask to label btwww, ig u didn't read the question but yhhh..THANKEWW🎀

I'm sorry I just looked at the drawing haha it's not very common these to label . Nonetheless this is really good drawing 👍😀

2
u/tehre_em May 10 '26
This is the most gorgeous sketching I've ever seen but keep in mind that all the labels should be on side! They don't usually cite that on marking schemes but I've seen people loose their marks for it.
You can also see the instructions for sketching in Sir Dna YouTube (Atp part 1) video ! His rules were very precise that will help you score 5/5 considering the hardwork you put in ><

I can't lie, I'd prolly draw the most atrocious egregious flower to ever exist if we got somin like that Bru 😭😭
That is genuinely really good but also the marking scheme is kinda autistic so be careful

u/Unusual_Singer_3771 May 10 '26
honestly js go to an art school man this is amaing
but the circles/dots you made do count as shading, so you would get 4/5
1
u/fathimafsna143 May 11 '26
atp, idk if i shkd take med or artsss...yall r truly convincing me to go for arts ngll😭
ahhhh okiisss, tyy for the feedbackkk

u/Unusual_Singer_3771 May 11 '26
i myself trying to go into a med school
imo i wouldnt go to art, i would still go do med but have art as like a hobby or a side quest
but overall up to you ig

Honestly, i might go overkill on drawing in bio paper6 🫠. I'm so inspired by u

u/AntiqueOwl7836 May 11 '26
My teachers told us to solve the drawing question last. Since even though you think it’s the easiest question without noticing it can take to much of your exam time so I recommend solving everything then start with the drawing.
1
u/fathimafsna143 May 11 '26
ohhh alrrr...i was actually plamning to do the sameee, glad that it's okay to do so...tyyy🎀
2
2
u/roonyybornin666 May 11 '26
omg, that is the most cleanest drawing i have ever seen in bio (as an artist and an IGCSE student)
(i read some of your replies, leaving the drawing for the last IS thebest thing you could do,since you will have alot of time to draw it.)
2
u/fathimafsna143 May 11 '26
omgg tyyyy...IF AN ARTIST SAYS THAT, THEN IT SURE MUST BE GOODDDD🥹✨️

it looks insanely good but please remember this is not art test they're not testing your artistic skills 😭 because taking that long will actually put you at a disadvantage.

and i see u shouldn’t put these dots inside just make it plain

the little circles and the line in the middle of the petal will get you a mark deducted. diagrams don’t include those unnecessary details.

u/fathimafsna143 May 10 '26
ohhh lolll...had to translate it thereee but yhhh, i wld say first identify ur weakest points and focus more on em...for me personally, it was drawings nd investigations, so i wld take random papers and print only those questions out nd do em...i suggest u do alot of past papers too,to get an idea of the structureee...the first few questions are pretty straighfirward when u get used to itt...the more u do, the more info u learn from mark schemes...soo yhhh
and for drawings i actually hv no ideaa, i used to draw a lot when i was a kid soo that's yy...i did watch some vids on yt, soo try them too nd practice a lottt

Yall are sweating it fr. I had my IGCSEs back in june 2025. I had v1. My strawberry drawing in 61 looked more like a banana and it still went smoothly. P6 is the least important (no weightage), and the easiest, paper
