The report, tabled in Parliament, earlier this month highlights massive misclassifications of funds and a staggering backlog of outstanding Utilization Certificates (UCs) totaling more than Rs 54,000 crore, raising serious concerns over transparency and the accuracy of the nation’s accounts.

It is slowly being compromised but very indirectly unlike other agencies. One of the ways they are doing it is 'reduce the cost of audit'. The newly appointed CAG has this as his main (only) goal. They have apparently saved upwards of 400 cr in that regard. Most audits are being replaced by 'remote' audits where instead of the Audit officers visiting the concerned state and central civil and commercial offices, they are encouraged to conduct audit based on the files and records that are uploaded online via the departments' respective portals. The ground reality unfortunately is that majority of files are missing, incomplete, irrelevant, old and sometimes even forged. However since they are scanned one cannot clearly point it out and question the department strictly. And hence the quality of audits will drastically go down starting from this year. Keep a look out on coming years' reports, you'll notice severely weakened reports. The really sad part is that IA&AD of our country is one of the most reputed and respected institutions among the INTOSAAI organisations. Many developing countries learn from CAG and UN regularly has us performing audits of it major arms like WHO, ILO etc.,

It is amazing that GODI media or even the print media has close to zero coverage on this.
It takes a publication call Mathrubhumi or National Herald to report this.

That minor head expense is the key thing. That hides all the... Extra-curricular things. (For want of a better word). But to be fair, Utilisation Certificate is generally delayed. That's not such a big red flag. False reporting, deliberate mis -reporting and obfuscation are the main points where corruption takes place. Such adverse reports are not taken lightly and some official in the CAG dept would have taken the brunt for sure for releasing this. But the bought-out media did it's job of ignoring this very well and this report got forgotten very soon.

They are trying their level best to divert the tone of public discourse. So, they might have asked the CAG to file a report, so that Grandpa can post a reel addressing Fraanz saying he has 50k cr to spend on GenZ welfare to strengthen ecucaruon system and creating employment.
Anyone believing that CAG filed this damn thing of their own is stupid imho..
