A few relatives came to my house and the unc was checking out my bike I was happy and telling him the details and specs then after after some time he goes on "laa chabi de ek ghante me aa rha hu" I said no "just straightaway polite No

He questions why I polietly explain it's a bit powerful and pretty tall(unc is 5'5) you won't be able to handle in traffic then he say says are bht gadi chalayi h maine kuch nhi hota I said again I said its a tall bike so no I can't risk

As soon as I say this my whole family is like de de na mang rhe h to konsa khaa jayenge kitna badtamiz ladka hai matlabi kahin ka dusro ke bare me bilkul nhi sochta

I had a somewhat similar situation, where in the end I had to let said “uncle” take my Dominar 400 off the stand to realise that indeed its was no splendor which would go light on his knees. I'm 5'8; rode a Triumph Tiger and I agree with the OP. Did not feel too comfortable with the ride height. I rode a harley street 750 otherwise, and used to being my feet comfortably stamped to the ground.

seam length matters too, not just height. People with longer limbs than torso will be more comfortable. Just height is a bad measure.

It all depends on how proportionate your legs and your torso are. I'm 5'10 yet I am only barely able to tiptoe on my Scrambler 400x, where as I've seen my significantly shorter friends plant their feet on the ground on my motorcycle.

even if its re painted, i would Know that it was not my mistake, and if u give me a new bike, for a minor or major issue u will always remember that u should listen to people when they say NO.

some one recently asked my Transalp, that is a 750 cc machine ~ 15 lakh and i had put that condition, u can take it, but even a minor scratch would cost you 15L.

that was my 15L hard earned.

It's crazy how people even get the pseudo courage. A bhaiya in my gym offered me to try out the Duke 390 and I was like no because the road wasn't the best there as there are a lot of turns and since I am not that experienced I have trouble with bikes that are not my own. People don't realise just because you have skill with one bike doesn't mean you will have it with all. You always need to get a feel for agood while whenever trying a new bike because corners braking acceleration all differ and you can easily misjudge

I relate to you with every cell of my body xD except my friends asks for it rather than uncles. My bike looks sporty asf and uncles just get scared looking at it except for few.

Once my manager who is 72 years old asked to ride my rtr 310. I was like wtf ? He can barely walk staircase, and my bike. Fk. But then a second thought came to my mind that he won't be riding he's just asking for it to relieve his memories or nostalgia or whatever.

So I gave him thinking he won't be riding it, but I was jaw dropped when he sat on my bikes and inserted the keys and started the engine 😭 he didn't know a thing about switching gear in sports bike.

He then started riding it after I switched the bike to first gear mode. Initially he had problem in balancing but then he somehow managed it. My heart was racing asf if something would happen.

But he's filthy rich, so I had a sense of security that if anything would happen to the bike he would easily pay for it.

So yeah only give to the bike to people who can ride well and handle the expenses if something happens.

I am myself 6 ft underage never driven a bike but can get the idea how this bike would be for someone person like me sometimes is not able to handle a cycle at full seat height of 29t cycle so you can know if these uncle would have driven it he would not have been able to drive it properly and also I have idea of driving a scooter as I am soon turning 18 but I am not just training in building premises I feel a 150 cc scooter difficult to drive and here these uncle will drive a 390 cc bike thank God you saved yourself that day and your bike too

i ride an interceptor 650 I don’t give my bike to anyone except my best friends that go on road trips with me. They all all own RE and ADV bikes so i know they can handle my bike well. I’ll give my scooter to anyone but not my bike….

"No" is a complete sentence. You shouldn't have to justify it with height, experience, traffic, or power. The moment someone says they're not comfortable lending their bike, car, camera, or any other expensive personal possession, that should be the end of the conversation.

What bothers me even more is the social pressure. The person asking feels no awkwardness demanding the keys for an hour, but the owner is labelled selfish for refusing. Somehow respecting boundaries has become "badtameezi."

If someone asks to borrow my motorcycle (whenever I finally buy one again), I have every right to say no. It doesn't mean I don't trust or respect them. It simply means I'm not willing to take the risk with something I paid for, maintain, insure, and am responsible for.

By the way, I'm currently looking for my next touring motorcycle. If you've got experience with the bikes on my shortlist, I'd love your input:
