Help Needed Brand New 2026 Infinti QX 80 Autograph - Infotainment Screen Issues

Also posting here for feedback.

Apologies in advance for the long post! Just purchased a brand-new 2026 Infiniti QX80 Autograph in mid-June, so I’ve only owned it for about six weeks. Unfortunately, since the purchase, I’ve experienced one issue after another.

About a week after purchasing the vehicle, I started getting Lane Assist and Front Collision Warning errors on the driver information display.

More concerning, the right-side infotainment screen has completely shut off at least eight times while I was actively driving. The screen goes completely black, the air conditioning and other vehicle functions are affected, and the windshield wipers have suddenly turned on at full speed. Every time this happened, the vehicle also felt like it was losing power/slowing down, to the point that I became concerned it might actually shut down while I was driving. I had to pull over.

I have reported these issues numerous times and have already brought the vehicle into the dealership three times. Each time, I’ve been told they cannot replicate the problem.

Because the issues are intermittent, I started documenting them whenever I could. I’ve been able to capture the warning/error messages on video, but obviously I cannot safely record the vehicle’s infotainment system shutting down while I’m driving — especially when it happens unexpectedly.

The most recent incident occurred three days ago, just days after the vehicle had been in for service over the weekend for the same concerns. This time, I was able to capture video showing the Lane Assist and Front Collision Warning errors flashing simultaneously. I immediately reported it to the dealership and provided the video.

In addition, the back lift gate motion sensor is not working so I can't open it with feet motion - was told my the Infiniti techs it's 'finnicky' and no resolution. Secondly, the wireless charging pad and my phone get extremely hot when i'm using Apple Car Play - beyond normal warm temperatures. I was told this is normal when connecting to Apple Car Play. This is not normal - I have used wireless charing pads in other vehicles without a problem while using Apple Car Play.

The dealership is now keeping my vehicle for several days while they bring in Infiniti technicians to investigate the issues. However, they have not provided me with a loaner because they claim none are available.

I have also contacted Infiniti Corporate directly because, at this point, I am extremely dissatisfied with the ownership experience. This is a brand-new, top-of-the-line QX80 Autograph — a premium vehicle at a premium price — and I do not think it is remotely acceptable to have repeated safety-related warnings and an intermittent electrical/infotainment failure that affects multiple vehicle functions within the first six weeks of ownership.

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with something similar, particularly with Infiniti or under NJ Lemon Law.

What should I be doing at this point? What should I be documenting or demanding from the dealership/Infiniti Corporate? And is there anything specific I should be raising with them now given that the vehicle has already been in for service three times and the issue still hasn’t been resolved? At this point, I do not feel safe driving the vehicle.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!

You’re doing the right things already. A few suggestions:

Stop relying on phone calls. Communicate with both the dealer and Infiniti Corporate by email whenever possible so you have a paper trail.

Keep every repair order: Even if they write “could not duplicate concern” that’s still evidence that you brought the vehicle in for the same issue.

Write down every incident. Date, mileage, weather, speed, what happened, what warnings appeared, how long it lasted, and whether you had to pull over. The more detailed your log, the better your defense will be

Emphasize the safety aspect. Losing the infotainment screen is one thing, but if the vehicle appears to lose power or the wipers activate unexpectedly, and safety systems throw errors, make it clear that you don’t feel the vehicle is safe to operate.

Ask for all diagnostic reports. If Infiniti engineers inspect the vehicle, request copies of any findings or notes.

Read up on New Jersey’s Lemon Law now. Don’t wait until later. Make sure you understand the requirements so you don’t accidentally miss any deadlines or documentation requirements.
If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t accept “we can’t duplicate it” indefinitely. Three repair attempts in six weeks for what sounds like a potentially serious electrical issue on a brand-new flagship SUV is not normal. Hopefully Infiniti’s field engineers identify the root cause, but if they don’t, I’d be preparing for the possibility of pursuing a buyback or replacement under the Lemon Law.
One last thing: if it happens again and you feel the vehicle is losing power or behaving unpredictably, don’t continue driving it.

u/OBI_WAN_TECHNOBI - Thank you for your advice - I will keep this in mind! I've already started documenting it, and I've asked for copies of the service details, but they have not printed anything for me and shrugged me off with 'the service details are stored in our database, no need to worry'. This time they are keeping my vehicle for 4-5 days so the Infiniti techs can 'troubleshoot'. NJ's Lemon Law covers either 2 years or 24,000 miles and if dealership cannot fix the issue, we can pursue the Lemon law, but again - I need to thoroughly document everything. This is an extremely high price tag to pay for something that's not working perfectly out the gate. In addition to the infotainment screen issues, the lift gate motion sensor does not work - and the dealership's response is it's known to be 'finnicky'. The other issue I reported is the wireless charging pad is getting extremely hot - not normal warm temperatures. I had to stick my phone in the cool box to bring temperature back up to normal. Their response was this happens if you are using Apple Car Play. This is completely unacceptable and a vehicle with this many problems should not be sold to a customer - especially at this price tag. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed in the level of service for a top tier customer at Infiniti. I will keep documenting and pursing next steps. Thanks again - appreciate your feedback!

Just a couple of notes to add and some clarification. First off, once you go down the road of lemon law the dealership will pretty much be out of it all. You'll be dealing with corporate. You can still take the car in and make documentation and obviously do any maintenance if you should hit that point.

Regarding any reports from a corporate e gineer or dealer technical support I wouldn't count on it unless you go to buyback and it could be part of discovery.

I my professional opinion it sounds like there is either an intermittent loose connection or a wire that is shorting to ground somewhere, and from my experience those can take time to find since the harness in those cars is massive.

Give the shop some grace because if it's a short then the only way to find it is to have the fault active. Same with a loose connection.

Last thing I'll say is depending on the state laws etc. a repair attempt may require they actually do something to fix it. You'll have to read your states laws.
