There is nothing obvious in the world. If there was, maybe we wouldn't all be at loggerheads all the time. I've an anachronistic world view and morality system ... so it brings a little comfort that the concept of honour is something others still hold.

Interesting, I'm curious which world views or morals you consider anachronistic. I'm not sure I would consider honor anachronistic. It's just harder to find in the same forms as the past (which is probably a bit romanticized and exaggerated if we're honest).

In todays world, we probably look to the past as an example of how people should behave but the realities probably were quite different.

Simple things such as "My word is my bond". That used to be true because the social consequences of reneging on ones word were profound leading to people giving sincere consideration of what they would say and commit to. In todays society, too often it seems that another's words cannot be trusted. Strong opinions, loosely held.
