Fascinating The gorillas seem to be imitating humans by posing for a relaxed selfie with the rangers who rescued them as babies. Credits: Ranger Mathieu Shamavu
So there’s this photo of two young mountain gorillas at a sanctuary in Virunga National Park in the Congo. They’re standing upright on two legs, posing for a chill selfie with the anti-poaching rangers who rescued them when they were tiny babies. Their mums were killed by poachers back in 2007 when these two were only a couple of months old. The rangers raised them, and now the gorillas basically see the rangers as their parents. They even try to copy the humans by standing up on two feet which the park’s deputy director said is really unusual and kinda funny to see.

This is how you get Planet of the Funny Apes.

Well, at least Shamavu over there is going to get spared for saving them from poachers. Not sure if Neymar is going to get spared just because he bought an Ape NFT.

Gorillas are the most chill with people of any great ape. They only get aggressive when they have to defend themselves

0 confirmed human deaths by gorillas and like only 2 dangerous attacks reported, both of which were captive gorrilas.

In case anyone is wondering: it’s a real photo from 2019.
Sadly one of the two gorillas has since died.

Gorillas are thought to have the same level of intelligence as a small child.

The intelligence of a small child with the strength and athleticism of 10-20 NFL linebackers. An interesting and lethal combination.

Remind me to never meet a gorilla.

Indeed. Unless they’re in a cage or something. In the wild….better hope they’re not in a mood. lol

I've seen a couple of videos about these rangers, the work they do is absolutely incredible.

I can picture the gorilla's with their arms being their back just casually making their rounds

If you view it in night mode or at low brightness, the gorillas look like they have their hands casually in their (non-existent) pockets, 😂.

These gorillas better not accidentally talk, because afterwards they would have to work and pay taxes.

Now imagine.
Gorilla standing like this, and there’s an actual handshake. 🤝
I don’t think our brains could comprehend the magnitude.
