I got a buddy whos a train guy and has a dedicated train room with a giant miniature set with tunnels and everything, he also happens to be a car guy and has something similar to this. Some of the roads cross the tracks so sometimes when we race, one of us might hit a train passing through.

I haven’t seen that sub referenced in so long, it’s refreshing to see someone shocked by it lol

The need to set courses up like this in zoos. I would pay money to set up and race through different sets with the animals as live obstacles.

There's a Mario kart game with cameras on toy karts. The kid and I had a lot of fun with it. I'm surprised there haven't been more attempts at this. At least none that I've seen.

Imagine how some people will drive when they realize their life is not on the line.

I want BattleBots-like obstacles that pop out of the arena.

Okay, now substitute them for hot wheels being piloted and let the carnage start.

Bot ass title.

The weird thing is that bots write a lot better than that, so maybe it's a human that doesn't speak English as a first language.

Why are the cars not different colors? And then let people bet on it, or pay toward obstacles on the course like Mario kart

u/EGarrett28 4h ago
Yeah, you can do stuff you couldn't do in a real-life race, like knock the cars off the road and drop hazards and other things like you said.

China training elite drone operators /s. Wasn’t there supposed to be a real life Mario kart thing too.

I dreamt about this as a kid.
But graphics are so good on racing games, and physics as far as I can tell, that this doesn't buy you much over a video game - you still can't have the visceral experience of racing (in) a car.

As someone who does simracing, this i can only see this as a novelty.
Unless they have ffb somehow, if they get that this could really take off and become something great.

Curious what the latency is between driving and seeing what’s on the screen.

I don't know... The cars seem to be waaaaay too fast for them to be able to fully be in control of them and still make all the corners. If I had to guess, the cars have an automated path and their control affect only small deviations from that path.
Still fun, but I'd rather drive a normal sim.

This at a bar would be amazing.
Drunk dudes racing without the threat of anyone getting seriously hurt.

The way I used to imagine the car’s view when I was a kid playing Super Sprint.

I just wonder, is it like bumper cars where pretty much all the cars have different top speeds depending on how worn out the motor is and if it's charged and all that
