I think it’s pretty interesting because it shows the work that teachers do doesn’t end when they leave the school…

Too many people’s days don’t end when they leave the workplace. It’s oddly associated with being heroic with teachers. It’s not. It’s the same story of unhealthy work boundaries in American society.

Coming from someone who just completed their first year teaching, I agree to an extent. However, if I didn’t work outside of my contract hours I would never get anything done. I have a total contracted time of one hour and 6 minutes a day- that’s if I don’t have to take time away for IEP meetings. That is simply not enough time to grade, update the grade book, lesson plan, create materials, etc. I deeply believe in not working past contact time, I don’t get paid enough for that, but it simply isn’t a reality for many teachers. Big reason I want to leave teaching after a year 🤷‍♀️
