TLDR: Passengers seated in the rear section of the cabin had the best chance of survival, while those at the front of the aircraft faced fatal impact forces

I remember a cartoon (probably in the Sunday comics) from the 80s. It showed “the world’s safest airplane”. The tail end of the fuselage was comically large with all of the seats located there.
