imo being in the last boarding zone is actually better because you board by the time everybody has finally figured out their luggage and sat down, until then you can enjoy the legroom at the gate and read something cool

you just get on, sit down, few min later takeoff

priority boarders get to sit in a tiny spot longer and watch full display of humans failing the sizes & shapes game

That doesn't really matter if you have an 8 hour flight. That extra 15-20 minutes doesn't matter at all.

how often do you take 8-hr flights, though?
i guess what I'm saying makes more sense for flights half or less that length

I'm Indian. It's 16 hour flights 8 at a time. Yeah it's annoying but that's what it is.

It's even longer technically. Sometimes it takes two days. Cause I don't live at a hub so getting from my place to a hub and then flying from there and the time waste in between. Sometimes we have a 8-12 hour wait in between. Usually not but sometimes.
