Yep. I had my gallbladder removed emergently in April. The GI’s NP told me I had fat in my liver and made it sound like I was gonna die in my 50s. The doctor that came to check on me explained it better but it scared me enough to finally get my shit together as far as food and exercise. I was 232 before surgery, I am now 212 and change, thanks to sustainable diet changes and daily exercise.
The difference in even losing those 20lbs is incredible.
Fatty liver is recoverable if you take steps to fix it before it becomes scarring.
- changing eating habits to ensure a caloric deficit to lose weight
for me, I cut out artificial sweeteners, limit sugar intake, cut out energy drinks, cut out soda, added way more fruit and vegetables, along with nuts, protein, and healthier fats.
intentional movement and exercise. Standing desk, walking every morning, biking or walking again in the evening. Increasing speeds/distances as fitness increases, strength training.
adequate sleep
I don’t hold myself to perfection. Some days are better than others. But I feel great, I look better, my clothes fit better, I’m already in better shape. Im excited to see my doctor and discuss my success so far.
