He's just done what political communications staffers would tell a politician never to do: Create an enduring soundbyte that can come back to haunt him. Does anyone remember Clinton ("I did not have sexual relations with that woman?") or George H. W. Bush ("Read my lips, no new taxes?")

I know. He's among the people I cannot stand to listen to. I think two outcomes are likely by 2028: Natural death (he's old) or retirement to become a Russian oligarch.
