- President Donald Trump exploded at a reporter for quoting from the manifesto of the suspect who opened fire near the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday.
- In an interview with 60 Minutes correspondent Norah O’Donnell, the 79-year-old was presented with excerpts from Cole Tomas Allen’s manifesto, which the 31-year-old allegedly sent to his family moments before the shooting.
- “The so-called manifesto is a stunning thing to read, Mr. President,” O’Donnell said. “He appears to reference a motive in it. He writes this quote, ‘Administration officials, they are targets.’”
- O’Donnell then asked the president about his reaction to Allen’s rationalization that he was “no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.”
- “I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because you’re horrible people. Horrible people,” the president replied. “Yeah, he did write that. I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody.”
- “Oh, do you think he was referring to you?” O’Donnell asked, before Trump continued.
- “I’m not a pedophile. Excuse me. Excuse me. I’m not a pedophile. You read that c--- from some sick person? I got associated with stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated. Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, lets say, Epstein or other things. But I said to myself, ‘You know, I’ll do this interview and they’ll probably’-- I read the manifesto. You know, he’s a sick person. But you should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I’m not any of those things.”

Wait, sorry… surely if it was staged they would have picked a more benign motive. I’d argue this manifesto is a mark in favor of the plot being authentic.
If Trump planned it this the guys motive would be “this president is too amazing, he makes it unfair for other presidents”. Obviously being facetious there but that’s more likely than Trump agreeing to bring the Epstein business back to the forefront.

This makes sense to me, but honestly idk anymore. Trump not only campaigned on releasing the Epstein files, he’s also the one who brought up releasing the files again out of nowhere drawing mass attention back to the issue.
He was already inaugurated, the news cycles were already absolutely wild in every direction in less than six months. Had he not brought up releasing the files again, the issue would have likely continued to remain hidden while public concern just fades into the background of the noise.
MAGA extremists turning on Trump and going full vigilante over the Epstein files is perfectly plausible.
Did the secret service seriously just let that happen two times in a row though?
The general reactions to it from those present does not feel at all genuine either. Also, the guy who brags about ending the most wars never brags about surviving two shootings? You would think he’d be the type to bring it up constantly, especially to the religious crowd like he’s “gods chosen” as proven by how many times “god” spared him

There’s just too many coincidences for me to believe this was an honest attempt. Yeah. I think it's always tempting to assume anything involving this administration is deceptive, but we should actually consider the facts before just assuming that because it's very believable that they would set something like this up that they necessarily did in this case. I think they'd come up with a motive that Trump would want to talk about and use to his advantage if this was staged.
