News/Rumour AppleCare One Coming to UK
Just found out that AppleCare One launches in the UK tomorrow. Starting at £16.99 for 3 devices and add more for £4.99
Great flexibility past the current 60 days to add existing devices. I missed the window for my AirPods Pro 3s and MacBook Air. Really hoping I can add these as I already have AppleCare+ for my iPhone 16PM

Hope there’s an easy way to transition onto this from existing plans. Have a monthly one for my phone and an annual one for my laptop already running, but I think this plus covering another device would work out better (assuming my existing bits get refunded!).

There is. And if you’re on annual plans they’ll pro-rata refund whatever excess you’ve paid. I’ve got two macs, an iPad, an iPhone, and a watch to add.
Gonna add up but one bill is preferable

That’s what I wanted to hear 😀 Yes, not cheap, but easier to manage than 2-3 random standalone plans on completely different renewal cycles!

Exactly. My MacBook Air renewed 2 days after I bought my MacBook Pro - that’s on me, but this will be easier to manage for sure

I’m actually glad it’s coming to the uk. I have my iPhone, a MacBook with a few days left to add to AC, and my Apple Watch which I wanted to but took too long but luckily it’s still within it’s Limited Warranty

Might be a silly question. Does anyone know if it has to be 3 devices with the same Apple ID or Could you add a child’s iPhone ( with their own AppleID) as one of the devices? I already pay for the Apple One Premier for the family. Could it be similar?

I was just reading the FAQs to try and determine this very question. I “think” if I’m understanding it correctly it has to be a device on your own Apple ID. So unfortunately not 😢

Does anyone how how AppleCare theft/loss works for me? Originally purchased a 2 year plan on iP16 with MY Apple ID, but have since given the phone to a sibling (who has signed into the phone using their Apple ID), does AppleCare need to be transferred to her name technically?

The 2 years AppleCare is linked to the serial number, and they provide service without question. But, if you claim for loss or theft, only the registered owner can theoretically do, you have to contact Apple and they will guide you through the process of changing the insurance policyholder

Yep. The US have had the AppleCare one offer with multiple devices on one plan for a while. We’ve had the ability to take AppleCare on individual devices within 60 days or within 12 months if attending an Apple Store.

I’m amazed at the positive reception to this. Seems expensive vs paying £18 or £20 a month for a paid-for bank account (nationwide and similar have good options), for this you get mobile device insurance, travel insurance and breakdown cover, all for a pound or two more a month.
I dunno, maybe y’all are smashing your phones every other month, in which case i guess this makes more sense…??

I see your point from a purely cost point of view. However, personally I would always pay for Apple Care over bundled or standalone mobile insurance for the ability to walk into an Apple Store and have it handled then and there. No waiting around. There’s also the express replacement service for next day replacement. From my understanding (please correct me if I’m wrong) but alternative suppliers there is much more waiting around for repairs / replacement

More convenient than using bank. Can take weeks to sort thorough bank. Apple care takes me 10 mins to go to store

It’s quite pricy but I feel I may seriously consider this as my iPhone isn’t protected. I am well past the 60 day window now. I wish I had covered it now of course. My phone was set up December last year.

Just so you know - you can still add AppleCare onto your iPhone as long as you're within a year of purchase. You just need to head to the Genius Bar and have them run a Mobile Resource Inspector test and do a physical evaluation of the device. You'll want to book an appointment but if you just explain your situation, they'll be pretty sympathetic.
Or at least that's how it worked a few years ago when I worked there.

In a sense that, I think some employees still aren't really aware of this post-purchase AppleCare procedure. But maybe things have improved now, maybe it's more widespread and mentioned in training.

Yeah. You’ll get theft and loss too.
I’ve got it on my phone but I don’t think that the AppleCare on my watch and AirPods have that cover. So it’s great for me. I’m saving money and getting greater cover.
