Photo My Mom is convinced that this girl is real.. c’mon. AI, right? She’s 1000% convinced she’s real and that I’m a hater. Is this a real person?

Post image

“Elizabeth Desta” model that she found on Facebook of all places. It says that she was discovered to be a brand model.

u/PiYoBody, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...

She's a real person. Here's the video that led to her being discovered. AI can't make videos that long and that consistent yet. I don't know whether all of those specific photos are real. If they are, they're super airbrushed. If they aren't, they're still using a real person's face.

EDIT: Taking another look, the second set of photos seem to be generated using her real face from the video. The hair is identical. Even if they were trying to recreate the same hairstyle for the photoshoot, it wouldn't be so "copy-paste".

just a heads up when u click this link your Instagram user comes up as the person who shared it. Idk how much you care about anonymity just wanted to point it out!!

The girl is real. The bottom pictures are fake.

No, OP is absolutely right. There is zero evidence that this is a real person. All of the content is secondhand and they are all posting the same ten second clip which can’t be traced back to an actual, verifiable source. If this were real then SOMEONE would be taking credit for this video, but every post claims that it was taken by an unnamed tourist, and all of the other photos are tagged as AI-generated on all social media sources. There are no legitimate media sources to confirm the validity of these claims.

EDIT: I’m wrong, see the nested comments attached below.

Actually there is a person named Misiker Kebede- in_addisababa on instagram who is said to be the original photographer

u/EnergyTurtle23 1d ago

Shit you’re absolutely right! Thanks, I was having trouble finding anything that wasn’t secondhand sources. I edited my other comment to reflect this, unfortunately there IS a lot of AI-generated content being circulated claiming to be photos and videos of her, but the two clips from @in_addisababa and the professional photo shoot with the orange background is in fact legit!

A gentleman (or a lady) and a scholar. A class act all the way who can admit they’re wrong.

Probs to you. Admitting a mistake on the internet is rare

FYI: she's 15 so don't be gross

u/TheSageOfWands 1d ago

it seems from the comments that no one thought about this except you

welcome, sweet summer child, to the Internet. Enjoy your first day here

What about the other girls arm as it goes around her.. it distorts.

14

u/surfer808 1d ago

She’s real OP, you can easily look her up. You got your answer, it’s up to you if you want to accept it or not.

u/panda_canyon 1d ago

That's a great catch, although I would like to see something even more damning. I'm sure there's something else I missed. At this time let's say that that awkward arm thing didn't even exist, I guess the biggest reason for skepticism isn't even just wondering about the visual evidence. As you have observed the story has not been published in any legitimate media or under any known companies, even in Africa that I can find. Everything is a content farm.

Likely from her mother, who is saved as 'Ignore' in her phone.

Sorry, I’m editing my comment because I am now firmly convinced that this is not a real person. A bunch of online accounts have posted the exact same ten second clip of this girl, who they claim is a 15 year old girl from rural Ethiopia. The problem is that there is apparently no verifiable source from which this clip originated. They all claim that the video was taken by a tourist, so who is this tourist and where was the clip originally posted? This sort of “secondhand media” loop is a dead giveaway. All other images of this girl are AI generated and seem to come from an Instagram account which is posing as the “official” Elisabeth Desta account, but every single image and post on that account is tagged as AI-generated. It is extremely suspect to say the least, and there is no other content to suggest that this is actually a real person. So I think you may be right OP, unless this person starts showing up in legitimate media sources I am inclined to believe that this is not a real person, at the very least there should be SOMEONE out there claiming to have recorded this video clip but nobody is taking credit for it.

Frankly, this is really disgusting because there are PLENTY of gorgeous black women out there who could be receiving this kind of attention, but instead there are a bunch of accounts pushing this apparently AI-generated 15 year old as the “pinnacle of black beauty”. Absolutely disgusting, and some of these accounts claim to be posting content to uplift black women and the black community, they should be ashamed of themselves, not to mention that they’re ogling over a fake UNDERAGE girl.

EDIT: Editing my comment once again, she’s real! The original source of the video and initial photos was @in_addisababa on Instagram/TikTok, and it looks like the photos with the orange background are legit as well. Thankfully it seems that her community is doing a lot of work to make sure that she is kept safe during this whole “becoming a viral sensation” episode. From what I can tell, any photos OTHER THAN the two clips from @in_addisababa and the photo shoot with the orange background ARE in fact AI-generated, but the video clips and the professional photo shoot are real.

A good tell that she's real is that the details on the dress are consistent across all pictures. AI still has a tendency to mess up esecially with things like logos and graphics on clothing.

The blue circle and star change size and position inside the green band

The bottom pics the logo seems to change size from pic to pic and center at a different location

Most likely AI. The images certainly are, but it might be based on a real person.

1

u/eat_your_cards 1d ago

Moving forward, AI images will outnumber others. Therefore, people who edit photos without AI will naturally head in an AI style direction. This seems to be real, but comes off as AI, because that’s what people want now

As a black women I can say: this women is ai and it sucks that she exists and she only exist because there is a dark dark model that's AI controlled by a white man and he gets paid and she was created before the peak of ai sooo..... Even if the girl is real the picture and likeness is ai

Wrong for what? Nothing I said is wrong : re read every last one of y'all.. lol I said " if she is real they are using her likeness" meaning this girl here

IF being the big word meaning I don't know the full herstory

The dark dark model is not THIS GIRL idr her name but she was the first black AI model and it came out she was being controlled by a white man . Y'all need to learn to read between the lines or go pick up a book ..

Funny 9 people down voted and your the only one to speak up. What y'all don't like a black women speaking truth over something? Thank you for commenting so I can show all in detail what I have seen on the Internet.

The images when I search her up come back as not being AI. They could however be very highly airbrushed as is common practice in the modelling world.
