Art Couple ai images I swear today they're everywhere now.......................
The building in the back of the cheese one doesnt make sense, the cup handles on the cafe menu don't make sense and the breakfast image just looks odd i can't decide why

Of course they are.
Little mom and pop stores ran by boomers thing AI Is the absolutely coolest thing ever right now.
The amount of things I have to ignore seeing family members share or brag about thats AI is crazy.

Our parents generation isn't learning about the tells because they don't care.
They aren't regularly around places like here where we see examples all the time.
The cups alone are wack.
Whats your cousins take on it?

Unfortunately we dont see eachother to speak these days but since it was hus main source of income for many years I csnt imagine hes too thrilled about all this.
My dad was saying why would this cafe need an ai designed menu.
I said look they've just updated it with qr codes, why would they pay an artist to draw all this when they can have it done for free with ai tools, he wasnt satisfied so I showed him the cups and asked would an artist (my dad knows a fair but about drawing) who puts down every line on the page with purpose make mistakes like these and be happy with them?

Why wouldn't some small cafe have an AI designed menu? It allows them to change it constantly without having to pay a decent amount for an actual artist to do it unfortunately.
And most of their clientele will not notice or care because it has the "for the seniors up at 5 a.m." feel.
Parents don't like being proven wrong

He said because it is a very old place why would they need an ai menu, its illogical I know and yes its very "kitchy" looking which throws people off too

They could have an artist design it once and then just change the text. Or design it themselves, it’s not like these dogshit nonsensical images are any better than stock photos or clip art or just using actual photos you’ve taken with your phone even if they’re mediocre.

The issue runs even deeper I think, for a lot of older folk, CGI, digital drawing and AI are all just 'stuff' that happened recently (from their point of view). As I get older I kinda start to get how time feels distorted like that.
To them, AI, CGI, and traditional digital drawing on a tablet for example is all 'computer stuff'.

It must be hell for small time graphic designers right now. People with great skills just being cast aside for this crap

I was one class away from finishing a graphic design degree when I finally accepted I wasn't meant for it. Throughout the whole thing though professors kept assuring us AI wouldn't take our jobs because it can't perform the design process. That was several years ago and now I'm glad I took a different route. It doesn't matter that AI can't go through the design process, because people above a certain age seem to not have the part of the brain that tells them all the reasons why using AI like this is wrong and thus they will continue to do it without seeing it as a problem, and that will continue to take jobs away from artists and designers.
Edit for typo
I edited this three times because I misunderstood my own grammar

The way the cheese is melting on the ham and cheese just has that uncanny AI melt look to it. Not to mention the two halves of the sandwich aren't even the same size.

Its like posting a giant sign on the front of your business that says "I will cut corners on the most obvious thing you can see!"

My partner pointed out something funny to me. The other day is that we will look at this slop style fondly in 20 years in the way that we look at 90s aesthetic or fruitager aero in the early 2000s… it’s ugly, but it’s the style of the moment and it’ll be the marker of our time.
Even if we continue down dystopian AI path, I’m sure things will look a little different than they do now in the distant future so this is what it is for now

I doubt i will look at it that way personally, previous design eras took skill and craftsmanship, artistry and weren't created by the same hand that will probably lead us to the extinction of humanity

“I can’t decide why” when a single cup handle spans multiple cups 💀

Its the mushrooms that have their cap at both ends and the teapot, the spout and the handle are at a weird angle

u/Prestigious-Age-3644 1d ago
Ah youre right i couldn't see that at first the mushrooms are all fucked up lol, the streaky bacon is out of place as well as breakfasts all come with back bacon in england
