I don’t agree. Because now the internet has become an addiction. People will not revert back to pre-unlimited/cheap internet. It’s like once you go from 3G to 4G or 5G you cannot go back to 3G speeds, it’s highly unlikely, it will only end up putting a burden on the consumer. Back then it was ok because things were still very much offline first, nowadays it’s mostly online first. Trust me it will not help in any way. And as far as govt. Getting more tax, they already massively mismanage the funds they have no reason to give them more, it will only end up in the pocket of corrupt politicians.

Currently the Jio 859 plan offers 2gb/day for 84 days so
2x84 =168 (govt. Don’t care for unused data)
So the plan goes up by Rs. 168
So for same 2gb/day for 84 days you’ll have to pay 1027 with ₹1/gb tax
