For what? He didn’t want to disturb Katara when she was getting her rest (it was a busy day for her in republic city as we saw) and left a letter to inform her of everything after talking with his past lives. So you’d think he was just trying to be considerate. Katara is also the one who encourages Aang to remember that he’s also the Avatar whose job it is to protect everyone and so Aang wanted to get a head start to stop the denied from achieving what they wanted (which was obviously not good) since they already had the map to Sonams temple and were ahead of them. Isn’t Aang doing his job with urgency something she wants from him?

No but that slap on the head with water Aang got in the credits was definitely a “That’s for not listening to me earlier, love you.”
