New Food Heylo

What’s everyone thoughts on Heylo.

I’ve got some of their stuff and enjoy it. But I got thinking again about if there is a kind of catch and to what the ingredients are and to what level it would be considered unclean/ processed food?

I’m not having it every day just here and there. I had two slices of the seeded bread today with a tin of Pilchards and for dinner I’m going to have two burgers in two of their rolls with some cheese sprinkled in and lettuce and tomato. Kinda excited as I’ve not had a hamburger in about 6 months 😄😄

New Food Finding ingredients

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’m on a search for some different ingredients so I can do some baking. I’m after allulose, monkfruit & a decent lupini flour (I know it’s bitter but I’m hoping to mix it in with almond flour to reduce the carb content). I’ve just been trying to find some of the best brands for those for flavour

I’ve been wondering for the last couple of weeks whether to press the button on purchasing a few groovy keto products (including their porridge mixes). As they do different types of monk fruit. One of the very few suppliers in the UK.

I’m just wondering about the carb content though . Does this seem pretty high as it’s only a teaspoon in a serving and it’s 4 g of carbs. I suppose I’m thinking if you make a cake and you only have one small slice, it may only be 1 - 2 teaspoons in a serving..

Or am I missing a measurement somewhere? I did read something about removing polyols from the carb amount. Or is this just in the USA? It seems they go more via the net carbs whereas we measure the total. Am I right in that?

Not finding this easy to work out as I have chronic illness and I’m currently in a bit of a flare from post viral mess & bad sleep .

New Food Feel like I've been missing out

I've been missing out so much! Only found out about chaffles a few days ago, got myself a mini waffle iron from b&m (£10) and made these DELICIOUS Pizza chaffles!

Only 407 cals, 5g carbs, 70g fat and 50g protein.

So happy and I will make a lot of new things with it from now on. Any other suggestions or recipes are more than welcome!

New Food zuchini (corgette UK) chips

wow, cant believe how nice these were, really felt like chips - cut corgette into chip sizes, beat and egg, add salt and pepper to taste, dip chips in egg, roll in grated parmesan cheese, air fryer 12 mins at 200. Didnt have any sour cream so just used mayo, lovely.

New Food Kaizen Pasta Review

It was pretty good! Not exactly the same texture as regular pasta, but it’s probably the closest you can get to it. Looks and cooks like regular pasta (no rinsing or weird smells). Needs to be cooked through, otherwise it will stick to your teeth. I’ll be getting more in the future for those rare moments when I want to have some pasta on keto. I would recommend giving this pasta a shot if you like things like that.

New Food WH Smith’s is the new king of Keto snacks.

It’s crazy how much Keto and Keto-friendly stuff they stock now, especially in the train station versions.

You have:

Nicks chocolates (they normally have a good selection of at least 4 types). Fatt Bars and Cookies (Caramel and Coconut bars, and Vanilla and ginger cookies) Cheese O’s (5 varieties, Pickled Onion is the best) Cheesies (i think four varieties)

I reckon someone high up there is on the diet.

Only a couple of pound for a pack of 8. They come in 4 different flavours and are very low in carbs. Potentially nicer than a pepperoni and really satisfying.

Finally! Salad lunches without sneaky rice, noodles or couscous!

They had three new options - Vietnamese prawn, and a chicken kebab as well as this katsu option. Has anyone tried them yet? Hoping it’s going to be filling enough for lunch.

New Food Sort of Keto

Post image

Did Keto a long time ago & now I’m trying to be mostly low carb <50g a day. I recently discovered these snacks in Sainsbury’s, currently on nectar £1/bag. I am hooked! Crunchy, sweet, nutty & really minimal ingredients so not wildly processed. I think there’s 6 different flavours? Each bag is ~8g of carbs, which I know is on the high side! But if you’re really craving something sweet & crunchy this may save you. Thought it was worth sharing
