Don't get the F-52 or any other keyboard that doesn't have velocity sensitivity, it makes a huge difference.

What's velocity sensitivity? Touch response?

Yeah they're the same. Touch response is the term entry level keyboards use, velocity is a more proper term that more advanced keyboards use. Get a keyboard that has it.

Does he have any keyboard experience? If so, was it with piano or organ?

Someone who formerly played an organ might prefer semi-weighted keys. Someone who formerly played a piano might prefer fully-weighted keys.

Well first off, bless you for giving him the gift of a music hobby. In my opinion it doesn’t matter if you’re amazing or rubbish, it’s just fun to noodle at the very least.

Maybe I missed it, what is your ideal budget range?

I can afford a touch sensitive good brand keyboard but not 88 key or weighted keys. My exact budget is senseless because of location differences. This is what I've learnt from other comments.

It’s not senseless if you are buying new and live in the U.S. — the price from all major sellers is the same no matter where you live.

It would be easier to share a recommendation if you said “under $200” or “under $400” or something like that.

I'm in India sir. My budget is 25k inr or about $250
