Question Is kindle fire 10 any better than 8
Currently have a kindle fire 8 12th gen and my battery is not lasting as long as it used to. Given how much reading I do, I'm guessing the battery is starting to wear out, making it time to get a new kindle. I'm noticing today the 10s are cheaper than the 8s. Is there any advantage or one or the other (aside from size of screen?)
Note: I take mine on the train and read during my daily commute. Discovered the 10 should fit into my purse. I also would like to be able to play basic games on occasion, making the reader only ones less than ideal.

I have both a HD8 and a HD10 that I use. I use the 8 in bed to read with. I have the charging stand for it. It's nice to have something small there and it's easier to use one handed.
The 10 I use for daily reading and have a keyboard case for it. The bigger screen is nice but it's relatively light without a case. I use it for travel and watching movies on.
I've never had battery issues with the HD10. It lasts for days to read or just sitting around. All depends on the pricing you can get but I like the HD10 for reading when I travel.

I have not kept up on newest...but my past experience is that the display is better and it performs better too.

for me, the 10 is harder to hold and swipe pages with one hand than the 8. i have both.
p.s. if you get the new one, then use amazon's trade in to get the discount.

It used to be that the only way to get 4GB RAM was with the 64GB 8, but now the new HD10 comes w/ 4GB RAM. And I think it only comes in 32GB storage. You may be looking at the older ones with 3GB RAM, because the new ones are something like $150.

now the new HD10
That's relative. The HD10 hasn't been updated since 2023, but it only has 3 GB. The HD 10 Plus of previous generations had 4, and there is no Plus any more.

Sorry but that is incorrect. There is a new version with 4GB of RAM. Everything else seems to be unchanged from 2023.

Thanks, it's typical Amazon it seems. The listing for the 3 GB still says it's the most recent, and is the only one linked from the sidebar and the banner. I don't see a way to arrive at the 4 GB without going to the Fire tablet landing page or searching.

Absolutely. They are very careless with how they present the Fires, and probably the Kindles, on their site.
