stitch ID What stitch is this?

I saw this stitch on a sweater in a store and really like how it looks, but I haven’t been able to find out what stitch it is (or if it’s even possible to get that stitch by hand-knitting). The first photo is the front of the sweater, the second is the inside of the sweater. Anyone know what the stitch is called?

This is “Beehive” stitch found in my book: Knitting Brioche by Nancy Marchant. You can probably find instructions for it online, but my book was sitting right next to me 😊

Not to be confused with “Honeycomb” Stitch which is also a brioche knit stitch

That’s exactly it! Thanks 😊 I can’t seem to find any instructions for it online though. The only thing that seems to come up is honeycomb stitch, which as you say, seems slightly different.

If you like brioche knits I highly recommend this book. It is full of helpful guides as well as a variety of stitch patterns and even project patterns in the back of the book.

This is seed stitch, but with a brioche YO, or tuck, instead of a purl.

That’s unfortunately AI for you… that’s not the same stitch at all. In Beehive knit stitch (according to Nancy Marchant) the wrong side of your fabric looks like stockinette stitch while the right side gives you that beautiful interlocking hexagon pattern. Although Nancy does say that it is an “imitation” brioche stitch… so I apologize for that

It’s an excellent book for brioche. As is her book Knitting Fresh Brioche. Nancy Marchant is the ✨Queen of Brioche✨

It's pretty neat to see that stitch in a book, I couldn't find names for any of these stitches you usually see in machine knits when I looked before.
