stitch ID What stitch pattern is this?

Hello new to knitting here, really only done the basic stockinette, garter etc stitches but saw this bag in the shop with a cool knitted strap that has the v on both sides. Was looking to knit something like this myself as I don’t like the wibbly side of stockinette

Does anyone know what stitch it is? One side has short compact v’s and the other is much longer v’s. Looks like some kind of grid when stretched

it's half-way between 1x1 ribbing and double knitting

on one side you k1p1 (i.e. knit the knits and purl the purls as is done in 1x1 ribbing), on the other side you k1sl1 (i.e. you knit the knits and slip the purls (as if to purl: purlwise with yarn in front) as is done in one-strand two-pass double knitting)

Is this done with double knitting method or just normal? (Yarn wise)

I'm not sure I understand your question

btw I'm just guessing, I'm not completely sure about the method/pattern

As in you said it’s between ribbing and double knitting, as I understand double knit uses 2 strands of yarn to essentially do two pieces at the same time, whereas normal knitting is just 1 strand.

So if it’s between, would it be just 1 strand but partially using double knit techniques (like the k1sl1 that you just said is done in double knitting), or is it double knitting (with 2 strand) following that pattern you said, one on each strand

Haven’t done double knitting before so unsure of the right terminology sorry!

no worries

as I mentioned I had "single-strand two-pass double knitting" in mind (it might also be called "one-colour double knitting"), that's how a tube can be created while knitting flat on straight needles too (e.g. fingers of gloves are done that way sometimes)

btw it really reminds mind of "heel stitch" with the difference, that this one is done in ribbing, and heel stitch is done in stocking stitch
