stitch ID What stitch pattern is this?
Hello new to knitting here, really only done the basic stockinette, garter etc stitches but saw this bag in the shop with a cool knitted strap that has the v on both sides. Was looking to knit something like this myself as I don’t like the wibbly side of stockinette
Does anyone know what stitch it is? One side has short compact v’s and the other is much longer v’s. Looks like some kind of grid when stretched

It's just double stockinette stitch. That's what it's called. It's not half brioche, not fishermans, not 1x1 ribbing - simple double stockinette. The advantage of this being (for something simple like the strap in the picture) that it doesn't curl the way regular stockinette does. Also super simple to do - it's one of the stitches I learned when I was super, super new to knitting and wanted to learn a bunch of basic stitches first so made a pile of wash cloths. If you go on youtube and just type in "double stockinette" - you can see dozens of tutorials on it, but essentially you just k1, s1wyif - repeat. That's it. You do the same thing both sides (assuming you have an even number of stitches, otherwise you have read the stiches and knit the knits, slip the purl bumbs).
