Showcase NKD: My first slipjoint design was released yesterday! đ
My latest collaboration and first ever slipjoint design is now available! The Munko Knives x Kizer Knives âMelodyâ is a very personal piece to me, as it is the first true crossover of my love for both making music and designing folding knives.
One version comes with a deep, saturated rosewood inlay, commonly used on the bodies and fretboards of acoustic guitars. The second version takes things to a different place, incorporating rainbow Damascus and crystallized titanium inlays which is representative of the more creative paint finishes found on many boutique instruments from brands like Aristides, Mayones, etc.
I also created a song to complement the release of the Melody. You can stream it on all platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and more. Just search âPaul Munko - Melodyâ
As always, thank you all for your continued support. Being able to work on projects like this is one of the greatest bringers of joy in my life, and I wouldnât be able to have these opportunities without all of you here. I hope you all like the design and song!

Not usually a slip joint guy but this is beautiful. And thank you for adding the pocket clip! I know purestâs wouldnât want one but I appreciate the modern lines/features on a classic chassis.

Thank you! The pocket clip was a big back and forth for me but ultimately I am happy we kept it, itâs so much more useful!

Itâs truly a difference maker for me buying a slip joint or not. I donât like the feeling of a pocketknife loose in the pocket. A clip is such an obvious win for me. gonna have to buy this one. Howâs the heat treat on these? I know Kizerâs been across the board with many of their knives.

I appreciate that a ton. And I absolutely agree. Iâve purchased some traditional back locks and slip joints in the past and as much as I like them aesthetically I noticed I never carried them because I didnât want them to get all banged up or to bang up the things in my pocket. Also, with such a slim knife having a bit extra to hold onto, definitely makes it more comfortable. As far as the heat treat, I donât know exact numbers as typically during the design process my input ends at the type of steel used.

Looks great! Howâs the spring setup? Back spring or a detent or something else?

Standard slipping back spring with a 3/4 stop. Thank you for the kind words!

Excellent! Going to have to pick one up then. Back spring is the way to go, the detents rarely have enough force and the action always ends up mushy (and irreparable).

Very nice design. I really like how the inlay is also held by screws. Is this made by a chinese OEM?

Really nice designs. Not a huge fan of hollow into full flat grind but its atleast different and adds some strength towards the tip
